Polish golfer Adrian Meronk was one of the top names who joined LIV Golf in 2024. In his debut season, he only managed four top-10 finishes. He though has started the new season with a bang as he came out victorious at LIV Golf Riyadh.

The Cleeks GC star had started the tournament strongly and led the standings from an early stage. He finished the first and second round being top of the leaderboard while being 10-under and 16-under respectively.

During the final round, he did stumble a little bit. Going into the back nine, the 31-year-old held a four-shot lead and seemed in cruise control.

However, two back-to-back bogeys at the 10th and 11th hole allowed his opponents to make a late push. In the end, he kept his cool and birdied the 16th hole. He eventually wrapped the round by shooting a score of 1-under 71 and finished the event 17-under, two shots ahead of runners-up Sebastian Munoz and Jon Rahm.

Following the round, Meronk admitted being nervous the whole day as he tried to claim his first win since his triumph at the Andalucia Masters in 2023.

I was nervous all day. I played quite good in the beginning, then it was a fight at the end. But super happy that I crossed the line. It was very satisfying, definitely.

Jon Rahm, the 2024 LIV Golf Individual champion, fell just short of making a winning start to the new campaign. His team though did emerge as the team champions from this event.

Legion XIII finished 50-under for the tournament with all of their golfers finishing in the top-15. This meant that for the second year running, they had been crowned team champions of the first event.

Adrian Meronk sets sights at U.S. Open following maiden LIV Golf victory

Adrian Meronk‘s victory at LIV Golf Riyadh has placed him top of the LIV Golf Individual Standings at the moment. Though it is still very early, this could help him qualify for the U.S. Open championship later this year.

The United States Golf Association (USGA) recently announced a special exemption for LIV Golfers. The player who finishes top of the individual standings as of May 19, 2025, will earn an exemption for the U.S. Open if they are not already qualified for the competition.

This is a big boost for players like Meronk who do not have a direct entry into the major championships as past winners, any other recent wins or through the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) points.

Meronk has now set his sights at the U.S. Open. If he continues to perform like this and remains on top, he could tee off at Oakmont in June this year.

Very important, yeah. That’s going to be on my goal list for sure. I am going to focus on that. Just keep going. Keep playing good golf and hopefully I can get that spot.

Reigning champion Bryson DeChambeau is among the seven LIV Golfers who already have their ticket punched for the U.S. Open this year. Meronk will be aiming to join them on the plane. He and his league mates will now be traveling to Australia for the LIV Golf Adelaide event.
