Adam Copeland, colloquially known as Edge, had an eventful night at AEW Worlds End pay-per-view. Despite everything that caught the ire of his fans, he also paid homage to one of his legendary WWE moments. While making his entrance, Copeland rocked the same long tights he wore in his Hardcore match against Mick Foley at WrestleMania 22.
The night was a watershed moment in shaping Copeland’s WWE career, and keeping it real, he showed up in the exact same raiment at Worlds End. Adam Copeland first defeated his long-term friend and on-screen rival Christian Cage to become the new TNT Champion. Relishing in the moment that Edge had not seen since 2011, he didn’t know it was going to be that short.
Shortly after he won, Killswitch, a Christian Cage ally, walked out. The former won a 20-man Battle Royale earlier in the night to earn a future title shot. Cognizant of the opportunity, Christian asked Killswitch to let him do the honors, and he cashed-in that contract on Adam Copeland.
It took only 13 seconds for The Patriarch to regain the same title he lost moments ago. With Worlds End now in the rearview mirror, fans believe that Cope vs. Cage was by far the best match on the card.
Their herculean stretch went for over 24 minutes, and it was a sight to behold for The Rated-R Superstar until Christian Cage turned the tables on him. One of the most menacing spots of the match came when Copeland power-bombed Nick Wayne on a table that was put on fire. The fans in attendance were left awestruck.
Is Adam Copeland done with Christian Cage?
Ever since arriving in AEW at WrestleDream, Adam Copeland’s daily chores have encompassed Christian Cage. The former Edge didn’t initially pick bones with the TNT Champion; however, Cage himself doesn’t want to be associated with his childhood friend.
Adam knew he’d have to be dogmatic in his approach if Christian was to be downed. However, with Cage’s family growing in stature and roping in the newest discipline—and that’s Nick Wayne‘s mother—it’s getting clumsy for Cope.
Last night’s loss would definitely hurt the 50-year-old Canadian great. If anything, both Cope and Cage are far from over. It appears like their feud is going to continue for even longer than one would’ve expected.
Before even signing with AEW, Copeland made it clear that he wanted to have one final tag team run with Christian. Though it might seem far-fetched at this juncture, it could happen one day.
