The Best in the World paid a visit to the United Center in order to inject a dose of moral support to the Chicago Blackhawks.

CM Punk is not wrestling these days. However, he knows how to garner headlines. Last night at the United Center, he attended the ice hockey game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Vegas Golden Knights. Despite giving his home side a well-documented introduction, the Blackhawks continued their dismal run of late and lost 3-5. It must’ve been a tough night for Punk and his fellow Chicago natives.
At one point, the arena even played Punk’s wrestling theme, The Cult of Personality, with The Second City Savior waving for the cameras. If that didn’t bring some vivid flashbacks of what happened in the exact building two years ago, nothing will. For those who don’t know, CM Punk made his wrestling return after 2766 days when he joined All Elite Wrestling.
The United Center came unglued, and it was pandemonium until the very second Punk was there. And about 2.5 years later, he visited the venue as a mere fan of the Chicago Blackhawks. There were some unconfirmed rumors about CM Punk potentially showing up at Impact Wrestling’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view last night. Of course, it didn’t happen. The show was in Chicago itself, and maybe that’s why some fans thought the way they did.
Impact was one of the first promotions to reach out to Punk after his AEW expulsion. However, it doesn’t appear like The Best in the World has any interest in their offerings. As for his chances to return to WWE, it’s a stalemate at the moment. As per Fightful Select, neither of the sides is in talks, and Punk is not currently planned to appear at Survivor Series, as many had already imagined.
Mark Henry says CM Punk tried to help out younger talent in AEW
The way CM Punk was fired from AEW completely made him the villain. Tony Khan accused him of being detrimental to his personal well-being and was forced to terminate Phil’s contract. However, fans never got to know the other side of the coin, as Punk has yet to issue a single word on what went down between him and his former boss.
“I saw him try to uplift the younger talent. I feel like Punk is a lot like some of the people in sports that I know. It’s an old-school mentality. The old-school mentality rubs young people the wrong way. Punk is stuck in his way, and that’s not a knock. I like conviction. I feel like Punk’s delivery of some of that conviction fell on deaf ears.”

However, one of Punk’s former colleagues and current talent scout for AEW, Mark Henry, had some encouraging remarks for Chicago’s own. Henry affirmed that Punk did try to uplift younger talent in AEW. However, calling him an old-school guy, the World’s Strongest Man admitted that Punk’s way of helping people out rubbed them the wrong way. Being a veteran of this industry, Punk professed his preachings the way some didn’t like, implied Mary Henry.
