In a thrilling start to the new-look AEW Dynamite, fans witnessed the arrival of Kazuchika Okada, one of the hottest free agents in professional wrestling. The Rainmaker has officially signed a contract with AEW. The contract details have been revealed.
According to Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful Select, The Rainmaker has signed a three-year deal with AEW. The financial terms of the contract are approximately $4 million per year. Okada’s decision to sign with the promotion came after his NJPW contract expired and he decided not to re-sign with them.
During the segment on AEW Dynamite, the Young Bucks were out to make some announcements. Despite losing, the Bucks were proud to announce that they retired Sting. Nicholas accused The Icon and Darby Allin of cheating but vowed to win the tag titles. Matthew revealed Adam Page is suspended from The Elite due to his actions at the AEW Revolution. He also said he had fired Kenny Omega for missing Dynamite dates for no good reason.
As Matthew prepares to put on another announcement, an enraged Eddie Kingston intervenes. The Mad King confronted the Bucks over the backstage issue from last week that resulted in a physical altercation. Just as the Bucks were about to hit EVP Trigger, Okada made his AEW debut. The Rainmaker stormed the ring, turning Kingston around to deliver his signature Rainmaker move. Bucks announced that The Rainmaker was the newest member of The Elite.
Potential bout for Kazuchika Okada in AEW
The Rainmaker’s arrival in AEW has opened up the possibility for high-star potential matches, especially after his recent attack on Kingston. It appears that Okada is poised to challenge Kingston for his title at the upcoming PPV, Dynasty.
With his new alliance with the Young Bucks, The Rainmaker opens up the possibility of a match with Omega. As Okada has replaced the Best-Bout machine in the Elite. These two have a history of putting on some of the best wrestling matches of all time during their time in Japan, and fans can’t wait to see them recreate that magic in AEW.
