AEW’s first Triple Crown Champion, Eddie Kingston, is on a roll in the promotion. The King of the Bums now truly represents professional wrestling by holding a championship from the three major promotions. Having won the inaugural AEW Continental Championship at World’s End, Kingston has reached his peak. Despite this success, Eddie is still sane with his thoughts and criticizes the extremism in the AEW-WWE rivalry.

During his appearance on ESPR, the ROH World Champion stated that he thinks of those people as nasty beings who wish for the downfall of the other company. He claims that people will lose their jobs if AEW closes, which he finds the most problematic side of it. Kingston does not see this as a tribalism act, but as being horrible in understanding life from within. He even empathized with those who take this in a competitive spirit.

Giving an example of his fandom for the New York Yankees, the Mad King stated that he does talk crap about the Boston Red Sox. But it does not take him to the level where he wishes Red Sox players would get hurt. Kingston analogizes that with AEW and WWE, stating he is on the former team and is a massive fan of them. Despite that, he does not want WWE to close, as he cares for the families dependent on that business.

To me, when you sit there and say ‘I hope AEW closes’ or ‘I hope WWE closes’ or whatever, to me, you’re a nasty human being because people are losing their jobs. People with families are losing their jobs.
Eddie Kingston about toxic wrestling fans

The NJPW Strong Openweight Champion mentioned having friends in WWE for whom he would trash them. Even the people at WWE do not want AEW mates to lose their jobs. Only the fans in between are channeling the hatred that is unnecessary in this rivalry. Kingston concluded with his good words, saying that he would like everybody to eat, just that he prefers his people to eat first and more.

Eddie Kingston’s Road to Triple Crown Championship

Going into the Continental Classic tournament, Eddie Kingston was already holding two championships. The NJPW Strong Openweight Championship and the ROH World Championship made him one of the strongest singles competitors. But to be the strongest force in AEW, he had to capture a viable title even there. Thus, his roller-coaster journey in the tournament took him to the C2 finals at World’s End.

At NJPW’s Resurgence, Eddie earned the chance to challenge for the Strong Openweight Championship. Kenta, went in as the champion at NJPW’s Independence Night 2 on July 5 and lost the title to Kingston. The King of Bums was feuding with The Blackpool Combat Club due to his hatred for Claudio Castagnoli. Their clash on the September 20, 2023, episode of Dynamite: Grand Slam gave Eddie the ROH World title.

As he already held the two championships, he bestowed his honor on the inaugural Continental Championship. He participated in the tournament and defeated Bryan Danielson to reach the finals. Kingston conquered his last adversary, Jon Moxley, at World’s End and reached the top of AEW.
