The legendary career of Sting officially came to an end tonight. The Icon competed in his final-ever match at AEW Revolution. In what was an enthralling tag team match, Stinger and Darby Allin defeated The Young Bucks and successfully defended their Tag Team Championships.

First, a heartwarming video package showing Sting’s illustrious career and journey was played. Afterwards, his sons came out dressed as Surfer Sting and Wolfpac Sting. Straightaway, The Vigilante and Allin wasted no time as they brought out all the stops to punish their opponents. Almost every available weapon inside the arena was used during the match.

Most notably, Stinger introduced a couple of glass plates. The brawl continued through the crowd as The Young Bucks gained the upper hand. Allin delivered on his promise to “die” for Sting’s last match. The former TNT Champion performed a Swanton Bomb off a ladder and through the glass outside of the ring. Later, Sting would meet the same fate as The EVPs sent him through it as well.

As a result, Ric Flair and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, who were in attendance for the bout, got involved. However, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson delivered double superkicks to both legends. At the end, Allin made a comeback to help his partner. The 31-year-old evened the odds as Sting made Matthew tap out to pick up the win in his final match.

As expected, fans were emotional as well as ecstatic to see Sting go out with a bang. The Icon gave it his all in his retirement match and walked out of the industry as a champion. The online wrestling community appreciated the legend’s career and praised AEW for giving him a well-deserved farewell.

Many believed that The Vigilante bowing out as a champion was the right move. Moreover, fans claimed that Tony Khan‘s booking of Sting was absolutely perfect. Meanwhile, a user sarcastically wrote that the 64-year-old doesn’t do jobs, referring to his perfect win record in AEW. A few were curious about what would happen with the Tag Team Championships.

As a result, a fan pitched the idea of a tournament to crown new champs. All in all, the wrestling fraternity was happy to see Sting’s retirement match at Revolution. A four-decade career and one of the coolest characters in wrestling history came to an end.
