Kenny Omega is considered to be one of the most decorated stars in the wrestling industry. He has entertained fans with some of the greatest matches of all time in promotions like NJPW and AEW. Despite that, WWE legend Bubba Ray Dudley felt that he could only gain knowledge of wrestling psychology in the Stamford-based promotion.
Bubba Ray Dudley claimed on the Busted Open Radio that Kenny Omega needs to have a match with someone like Randy Orton in WWE. He felt that by working with The Viper, Omega would improve a lot as a professional wrestler. Now, Omega has replied to the video on X.
The Best Bout Machine acknowledged Orton’s legacy and admitted that he would’ve learned a lot from him. However, he also stated that he has sought knowledge from every little place he has competed. Recently, Omega blasted one fan who criticized his promo skills on his Twitch stream.
I learn something almost everyday I'm at a venue. Even the tiniest of details can make a difference. There's no doubt in my mind that with someone as unique and successful as Orton, I'd plenty to learn, absorb, and apply. Tis facts.Kenny Omega on X
The former Elite member is currently out of action due to diverticulitis, and according to reports, his illness was near life-threatening. His last match was against Ethan Page in December of last year. Fans are expecting him to feud against Kazuchika Okada and The Young Bucks straightaway after his comeback.
Kenny Omega learned a lot from WWE Hall of Famer Curt Hennig
Although The Belt Collector is a wrestling megastar in his own right, he recently named Kurt Angle as his favorite wrestler of all time. However, he also admires legends like “Ravishing” Rick Rude, Curt Hennig, and The Ultimate Warrior for their in-ring work rate.
Omega talked about how he was impressed by Hennig’s wrestling style on his Twitch stream. He admitted that watching him compete helped him get better inside the ring. The Cleaner further added that he often enjoyed the stuff he saw in the ring rather than the storylines and promos.
When I first started to kind of become like a ‘workrate’ guy where I really enjoyed more of what I saw in the ring than the storyline-type stuff, he was my first ever ‘oh man this is what wrestling looks like when I’m really into a match.’ Not that I wasn’t into the matches before, I was into them in a different way.Kenny Omega on Twitch
Unfortunately, it still isn’t clear when Omega will make his return to the squared circle again. According to recent reports, he decided to have surgery on his intestines after suggestions from multiple doctors. Therefore, he is expected to be out for a longer time than initially rumored.
