Amidst the palpable ado of her highly anticipated AEW debut on March 13, Mercedes Mone is out there making the moves. Yesterday, she attended the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Tokyo. And not only that, Mone, who was also a presenter at the annual event, caught up with Megan Thee Stallion. The fans were amazed at this unexpected collab and had numerous reactions to it.
However, her votaries are eagerly awaiting Mercedes Mone’s return to the squared circle. As the cat is already out of the bag, the 32-year-old is believed to grace her native city of Boston next Wednesday at AEW Dynamite: Big Business. Reports suggest that she’s been on Tony Khan‘s payroll for quite a while now. She was just finishing up her acting commitments over the past month or so.
Needless to say, the former Sasha Banks will be a massive get for the Jacksonville-based promotion. With the recent arrival of Will Ospreay, the speculated onboarding of Kazuchika Okada, and Mone being in the fray, AEW is hoping to get things back on track. Despite stalemate television ratings for its weekly episodic show, Dynamite, the company has struggled to up the ante in terms of its live attendance.
Mercedes, a world-traveled athlete, could be the missing piece of the puzzle Tony Khan and his men are looking for. The rumors of her AEW debut first made the rounds when she was spotted in attendance for AEW All In at Wembley Stadium last year. In late 2023, there were talks of her potentially going back to WWE, but they fell through by the onset of January. The sky’s the limit for her as The Mandalorian actress closes in on her AEW arrival.
Mercedes Mone has reacted to Giulia’s challenge for a match
It appears like The Boss is already on someone’s bucket list. Recently, NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Giulia expressed how she’s craving to defend her gold against Mercedes Mone. It didn’t take long for the latter to get back to the Stardom wrestler.
Mone emphasized “Big Business” in her quoted reply, seemingly confirming her AEW status, and said that Giulia knows where to find her. Signing with AEW would allow Mercedes to compete in NJPW as well, as she’s still linked with the promotion in some capacity.
Meanwhile, Giulia’s stay in Stardom is running out of time. Her deal expires at the end of March, and she’s not going to renew it. Thus, it would be interesting to see how this matchup would fall into place.
