Ronda Rousey seems far from done with professional wrestling. Her latest quest to explore more opportunities in this venture led Rousey to debut at the latest tapings of Ring of Honor. She came in as the hand-picked opponent for her longtime friend, Marina Shafir. The former MMA aces joined forces to battle ROH Women’s Champion Athena and Billie Starkz.
It served as the rematch for Rousey’s last night’s debut for Wrestling REVOLVER in Los Angeles. Prior to her appearance, PWInsider reported that Ronda Rousey was backstage at the double taping of AEW’s weekly episodic shows, Rampage and Collision. Her presence sparked big speculation about her immediate future with the Tony Khan-owned company.
And guess what? Just merely hours after her backstage presence went public, she actually wrestled at the ROH tapings. The episode is slated to air on Thanksgiving Day and is listed as ‘ROH on HonorClub‘. Tony Khan even posted about the aforementioned tag team match on X. However, he didn’t reveal Rousey’s name in order to keep the The Rowdy One’s appearance clandestine.
As of now, there’s no talk of a deal happening between Ronda Rousey and Tony Khan. However, it’s expected that The Baddest Woman on the Planet will work for Ring of Honor in some capacity. Those in attendance at the Kia Forum in Inglewood noted that Ronda got a decent reaction from the live crowd. Not only that, but a portion of people even chanted “Holy Sh*t” at the arrival of former UFC Bantamweight Champion.
Is Tony Khan about to announce Ronda Rousey as AEW’s newest signee?
At the Kia Forum, AEW will hold its annual Full Gear pay-per-view. The show will likely be headlined by MJF. He will seemingly defend his AEW World Championship against Jay White. Apart from that, what has kept the fans in a commotion is a huge announcement from Tony Khan.
The AEW CEO is slated to unveil his company’s latest signing in Los Angeles on Sunday. Now fans are wondering whether that name could be Ronda Rousey. Though it might be possible that The Baddest Woman on the Planet ends up becoming All Elite, she may not be what Khan has up his sleeves for Full Gear.
Having said that, current IGWP US Champion Will Ospreay is believed to be the one who’ll be announced to have signed an official contract with AEW at the pay-per-view. As for Ronda Rousey, she last competed in WWE at SummerSlam and poignantly teased retirement afterwards. But the way she’s making her moves of late, it doesn’t appear she’s hanging up her boots at all.
