The AEW President Tony Khan recently reflected on the alleged CM Punk forcing Tony to keep Colt Cabana away from AEW. The fallout between CM Punk and Colt Cabana made headlines when two best friends turned into bitter enemies after a legal conflict. While both were working under AEW and there were speculations, they would reunite once again while working for the same company. But Tony Khan tiptoed Cabana to ROH, which led to backstage chatter suggesting CM Punk had a role in this.

This led CM Punk to blast Colt Cabana, Hangman Page, and The EVPs of AEW (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) at The All Out Media Scrum. However, Tony Khan recently clarified that Punk didn’t have a say in this decision. But now the latest report from veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer suggests that not all people backstage agree with this theory.

While talking about the recent comments made by Tony Khan at Full Gear Media Scrum. Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio said that the talents backstage are skeptical regarding Tony Khan’s version of the story. He further pointed out that since CM Punk was adamant that he had nothing to do with Cabana, therefore the public stance would remain the same.

While commenting on the situation, Meltzer said- “But l’m just saying that the skepticism, and it’s vehement from a lot of people, as far as the skepticism of that story. So it’s not like that thing has been settled in the eyes of, I can’t say all the talent, but a lot of the talent. Even today, I just got something that was just like, ‘Can’t you just see? Isn’t it obvious?’ It’s not like they’re speculating, they believe that they know the story.”

We have not seen CM Punk on AEW television since the backstage altercation after the All Out Media Scrum fallout. Various reports suggest he will not be seen in the company again as AEW President Tony Khan is reportedly trying to buy out his contract. Following this, Khan received a lot of heat for not being able to handle the situation correctly.

The criticism was based on Tony Khan’s actions after the All Out controversy. As people believed that The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega to have been equally involved in a brawl after The Media Scrum, were not handed their receipts. Rather than CM Punk, who was bringing in a lot of viewership for the company, was let go.

While others returned to television, CM Punk was nowhere to be seen as he has now started commentating on UFC.
