This week at AEW Grand Slam, Saraya retained her AEW Women’s World Championship against her former best friend Toni Storm. The two stars have been involved in a slow-burning feud for the past few weeks. It was notable after Storm cost fellow Outcast member Ruby Soho the TBS Championship at All Out.
On the September 13 edition of AEW Dynamite, Toni Storm competed in a four-way eliminator match against Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker and Nyla Rose. She emerged victorious in the match and earned a title shot against Saraya at AEW Grand Slam. However, the highlight of the match was something else.
In a supposed emotional tussle between two former best friends, Toni Storm left the whole arena amused after pulling an unexpected antic. In the middle of the match, the 27-year-old smooched the champion to divert her focus and hit her with a piledriver. As a result of this segment, fans went berserk, flooding social media with their reactions.
However, Saraya shortly regained her composure. She drove Storm to the turnbuckle and retained her title by hitting her finishing maneuver. The 31-year-old won the title at AEW’s flagship show, All In, at Wembley Stadium on August 27. She is currently enjoying her first reign as champion in AEW.
