The AEW All Out backstage scuffle is one of the most controversial moments in wrestling history. Without a doubt, it led to a ripple effect in the sport, which is still talked about to this day. As a result, almost everyone involved in the fight had signed NDAs, including CM Punk. Recently, Chris Jericho added fuel to the fire by firing a scathing shot at Stephen P. New.
Stephen is the lawyer who represented the Second City Saint and his best friend, Ace Steel, during the legal procedure of the controversy. Also, he represents former wrestling manager and booker Jim Cornette, whose opinions have always divided the wrestling community.
Despite the closure of the matter over a year ago, a recent revelation opened an online discussion yet again. During an appearance on Wrestling with Rip Rogers, Stephen P. New claimed that Steel’s wife, Lucy, was the only person who didn’t sign the NDA. Meanwhile, the agreement between both sides was to not publicly discuss the matter for life.
During the All Out 2022 media scrum, CM Punk took shots against The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. Therefore, the EVPs confronted the Best In The World in his locker room, which led to a brawl between the two sides. Later, all involved parties were handed immediate suspensions. Needless to say, it negatively impacted AEW as it ended one of their greatest runs.
What is Chris Jericho’s involvement with Stephen P. New?
Chris Jericho is one of the most important figures in AEW. However, fans have criticized the wrestling legend for his latest online antics. Y2J responded to a news article that was based on Stephen P. New’s comments on the NDAs. The former WWE Superstar revealed that he hadn’t signed one while implicitly hinting that he was present during the backstage brawl.
As a result, Stephen pointed out that Jericho was subject to one due to an employee agreement. Moreover, he threatened legal action against the former World Champion. In reply, the veteran called out the lawyer, insulted CM Punk, and claimed that he had never signed an NDA.
Furthermore, Chris Jericho confirmed that he was indeed in the room and observed what went down. Fans were shocked by the 53-year-old’s comments, with some criticizing him for bringing up the controversy needlessly. It will be interesting to see if this leads to any legal issues for Y2J.
