The latest edition of Dynamite continued AEW’s ongoing streak of strong shows. After weeks of anticipation, Kazuchika Okada finally made his debut. The Rainmaker shocked the fans when he came out during The Young Bucks‘ segment tonight. However, the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion turned heel and joined forces with the Elite.
Following their loss in Sting‘s retirement match at Revolution, the AEW EVPs had two major announcements to make. Moments later, The Young Bucks were interrupted by Eddie Kingston. The Continental Crown Champion took no time in attacking Matthew and Nicholas Jackson; however, the numbers caught up to him. Just then, the coin dropped, and Okada made his first entrance as an official AEW star.
Okada seemingly arrived to even the odds and help Kingston. A while later, the 36-year-old blindsided the latter and delivered a Rainmaker to him. Okada shook hands with the Bucks, confirming his allegiance to the notorious tag team. Moreover, he made his intentions clear to go after Kingston’s championships. This was a rather interesting turn of events as the EVPs suspended fellow Elite member “Hangman” Adam Page and fired Kenny Omega.
Now that Okada has joined the faction, it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for the new signing. The Rainmaker is seemingly headed towards a program with Kingston for the upcoming pay-per-view, Dynasty.
