He’s not Edge; call him Adam Copeland. That said, The Rated-R Superstar has finally arrived in All Elite Wrestling. After weeks of rampant speculation about his wrestling future, the fans got their answers. Last night, in the main event of AEW WrestleDream, Christian Cage defended his AEW TNT Championship against Darby Allin in a 2-out-of-3 falls match. In a match that redefined brutality, Christian retained the gold.
The match ending even saw Nick Wayne turn on his friend, Darby Allin. That ensued in a 2-on-1 attack on Allin, courtesy of Christian and Wayne until Sting arrived at the aid of Darby. However, the 64-year-old legend wasn’t enough to dodge the unholy duo. Then, Metalingus hit the Climate Pledge Arena, and Seattle went bonkers. Edge came out, and Christian seemed like he saw a ghost.
Edge made a surprise appearance in AEW as Adam Copeland. He took out Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus and shared a staredown with Christian. Edge later shook hands with Darby Allin and Sting, ending the show by keeping a close eye on Christian.
WrestleVotes has hinted that the 11-time World Champion was offered bags of money. Moreover, the temptation to work with some of his best friends in the business is what made him sign the deal. AEW has released the initial merchandise for Edge, which boasts that The Rated-R Era is here. More details would be out as the dust settles. However, after WWE got Jade Cargill, Edge is a massive gain for AEW too.
Tony Khan has officially confirmed Edge’s first AEW match
Shortly after Edge made his AEW debut, he also did the post-show presser alongside Tony Khan. The Master Manipulator stated that he felt free, and it’s almost like when he used to come out at indie shows. The AEW CEO confirmed that Adam will be a full-time talent here at AEW.
Moreover, as announced by Khan, Copeland will speak for the first time with an AEW microphone in hand this week at Dynamite. That said, he’ll make his in-ring debut against Luchasaurus on October 10 in Kansas City. That should be a great first warmup for the 49-year-old legend.
Well, Edge’s arrival could be a game-changing move for AEW, considering they recently fired CM Punk. Meanwhile, Edge is going to be a massive asset and someone the entire locker room can look up to. It remains to be seen how Tony Khan handles Edge, as it should be presented as the biggest deal possible.
