After back-to-back home victories over the Chargers and Texans, the second-seeded New England Patriots are set to hit the road for the AFC Championship game against the top-seeded Denver Broncos at Mile High. Denver, on the other hand, overcame a tough challenge against the Buffalo Bills to qualify for its first conference title game since the 2015 season.
The Broncos’ defense did most of the heavy lifting against the Bills. Nik Bonitto and Malcolm Roach sacked Bills quarterback three times, in addition to recording three fumble recoveries and a couple of interceptions. Bo Nix played his part efficiently. Despite conceding a pick, Nix threw three touchdown passes.
Meanwhile, the Patriots’ defense made life hell for Texans’ CJ Stroud. The third-year signal caller committed five turnovers, four in the first half, including four interceptions. Patriots quarterback and MVP frontrunner, Drake Maye, managed the game really well. He threw for 179 yards, 3 touchdowns, and one pick.
The Broncos lead the all-time series 31-24 in the regular season and 4-1 in the playoffs. Denver won 20-18 in the last postseason meeting in the 2015 AFC title game. Peyton Manning completed 17 passes for 176 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tom Brady threw for 310 yards, 1 touchdown, and two picks.

Why can the Patriots win?
Maye must improve his first-half performances. He completed just 44% of his passes and averaged an interception in his first two career playoff appearances. However, he comes alive in the final ten minutes. Maye’s accuracy jumps to 65%+ when it’s crunch time.
The run game will also play a big factor on Sunday. Stevenson has accumulated a total of 156 all-purpose yards from 26 touches on the ball, while wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has one touchdown and 141 yards.
Why can the Broncos win?
The Broncos won’t have Nix under center against the Patriots. He fractured his ankle in the final moments of last week’s fixture. Veteran Jarrett Stidham is set to make his playoff debut, despite not having thrown a pass in over a year.
Sean Payton must make the most of rookie RJ Harvey’s prowess as a tricky runner with the ball. Harvey had 850+ all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns in the regular season.
