Andy Murray has landed a new job! After hanging up his racket last year at the Paris Olympics, Murray joined Novak Djokovic‘s coaching team.
Six months afterward, the pair split, following which, Murray became an associate partner at London-based Redrice Ventures. And how he started his career as ‘Agony Aunt’.
Murray, on the newly named Andy Murray Arena at the Queen’s Club Championships, was giving free coaching to those who wanted. The retired Scot was asked questions ranging from dating, and workouts, to even about in-laws. Murray also recounted his first date with his future wife Kim Sears when a fan asked him about a “perfect first date“.
First dates can be tricky. I had a terrible one with my wife. We went to an okay restaurant but she wasn’t speaking to me. I had to take a break and go to the toilet to compose myself.
A woman then asked him the top tip for a long and healthy relationship. Murray gave her the answer from a man’s perspective.
I’m saying this from the man’s perspective, maybe you can tell him this, I’ve found that helping out with little things, like putting the dishwasher on, putting the dishes away, goes a very long way.
Regarding chronic anxiety issues, Murray’s advice was to write down the things that are causing anxiety, citing his own example of how he used to write them down as it helped him to deal with them. When a woman asked him what she should do because her in-laws were coming to her home the next day, Murray told her to be nice to the mom because a bad relationship with the mother-in-law can cause problems.

Andrew Castle shares what he thinks about the Novak Djokovic-Andy Murray partnership
Andy Murray became a part of Novak Djokovic‘s entourage last November and in this year’s Australian Open, they worked together for the first time. Djokovic, under the three-time Grand Slam champion, made it to the semifinal of the Melbourne Slam and the final of the Miami Open (lost to Jakub Mensik).

The Serb, however, also lost three consecutive matches twice, before and after the Miami Open. Following his Madrid Open exit, the 24-time Grand Slam champion parted ways with Murray. Former player Andrew Castle shared his take on why Djokovic approached Murray to join his team.
I don’t see it as a coaching relationship. I don’t see those types of relationships; I see it as support and somebody who has been in the trenches as well and understands [what is needed]. Novak may need an observation now and again and you might say something along the lines of, ‘You’re 37 now and need to get to the ball earlier on a rally because you don’t cover the courts as quickly as you did.’
Andrew Castle told Betway
Djokovic, before arriving in Paris, ended his trophy drought by clinching the Geneva Open by beating Hubert Hurkacz, becoming the third man after Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer to reach the 100-title tally. At the French Open, he progressed to the semifinal but lost to eventual runner-up Jannik Sinner.
His next target is Wimbledon where in the past two seasons, he lost to Carlos Alcaraz. If Djokovic wins the grass-court Major, he will not only clinch his historic 25th Major but will also tie the title tally with Federer (eight).
Nole hasn’t yet won a Grand Slam title since the 2023 US Open. This year, twice his Grand Slam campaigns ended after the semifinals. An injury forced him to retire mid-match against Alexander Zverev before he lost a straight-set thriller to Sinner in Paris.
