This is the biggest match of the past 24 years, and the organizers are doing everything possible to make sure justice is done. Furthermore, this also includes the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). After dominating every industry, AI is finally making its way into the world of boxing. As such, the first bout analyzed by AI will be the undisputed heavyweight champion title between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh.
During an interview with ‘Is It Really Worth It Podcast’, boxing sports’ Radio Rahim revealed that AI will be used to count the punch and other stats of the fight. Normally this is done via the judges and CompuBox who assign operators to provide live data from fights.
The difference in this fight is that, we will have, for the first time, a punch count system, a stat system, that’s never been seen before. It’ll be generated by AI. It’s not like eyeballing humans.Radio Rahim via Is It Really Worth It Podcast
According to Rahim, the AI will be able to provide better and more accurate data about punches thrown, the impact of the shot, the quality of the shot, and punches that landed cleanly or didn’t. Throughout the history of boxing, the human element of judging and scoring has often been held to be substandard, if not downright unfair.
This was even seen in Tyson Fury’s last fight against Francis Ngannou. However, with the advent of AI, fans can look forward to a new era of impartiality and fairness in a sport where human mistakes have long been a part of the game.
AI Prediction for Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk
In addition, to using AI to gather data for the fight, people have used it to predict the upcoming fight. This was done with the help of the AI software ChatGPT which predicted that Fury would emerge victorious. Furthermore, it predicted that Fury would win via points despite Oleksandr Usyk‘s skills and endurance.
It also predicted that the fight would be a highly competitive bout and would showcase the best of heavyweight boxing. Currently, Tyson Fury is the underdog.
However, the difference between the odds reflects how the fight is 50/50 for fans. Both fighters are currently laser-focused on their biggest fight and only one of them can maintain their undefeated record.
