The Philadelphia Eagles cruised to an avenging win over the Kansas City Chiefs at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 9. The Eagles, winning their second-ever Super Bowl, possessed an overall stellar unit, in the offensive and the defensive areas of the team.
Winning the pinnacle of the sport should be a satisfying moment. AJ Brown, who joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022, however, seems to differ on that. In a recent podcast host by Donald de la Haye, Brown admitted that the Super Bowl victory hype is overrated.
Following the Super Bowl LIX win, AJ Brown shared a cryptic message on his socials admitting that his joy was “short-lived.” The post sparked speculation, with some assuming Brown was disappointed due to his limited involvement in the game. Brown finished with just three catches for 43 yards and a touchdown.
Brown has finally broken his silence on the issue and addressed the reaction this week on the Kickin’ It With Dee podcast. He clarified that his feelings had nothing to do with personal stats. Instead, he explained that the post-Super Bowl high simply didn’t live up to his expectations.
I wrote the post and it was just like, it wasn’t fulfilling It didn’t do anything for me. It didn’t do a lot for me that I thought. … Even watching people win Super Bowls, I’m like, ‘Oh they’re happy, they’re celebrating in the locker room, drinking and stuff.

AJ Brown admitted that the whole celebratory mood just did not match his persona or his vibes that day.
“I’m just like okay, alright that’s how I’m supposed to feel. And I’m in the locker room after we win… I’m trying to feel how I pictured it, you know what I’m saying? My expectations of it. And I was totally wrong. I even sat down in the locker room for a second ‘cause I got tipsy ‘cause I don’t drink… I was just like, ‘Man, this is cool but I’m ready to go,’” he continued.
AJ Brown on the @KickinItWithDee podcast gave a really good, really detailed answer on what he meant when he posted on IG that wining the Super Bowl “wasn’t what (he) thought it would be”

Brown’s candid reflection offers a rare perspective on the emotional aftermath of a championship win. Sometimes, even the highest achievements don’t always bring the fulfillment one might expect.
AJ Brown is in it for the daily grind and not any materialistic items
In the podcast, AJ Brown also delved into his ideology about the game. The wide receiver, often touted as a very thorough and logical guy for his clear answers in interviews, admitted that none of the materialistic things influence him to play the game.

Adding upon his earlier statements, Brown noted that the daily grind and the belief in himself to do something extraordinary drives him. He also claimed that he considers a good challenge his fix.
I really love the game. And it ain’t for attention, it ain’t for the money, cars, clothes, not even for the trophy. It’s the daily grind and me putting in that time and me believing in something that can’t nobody see but me… The part where I get the thrill from is when somebody challenges me and tries to take what’s on my plate. That’s my fix.

As the Eagles gear up to defend their title, AJ Brown will definitely have more challenges to tackle. He is signed with the team until 2029.
