At the very end of April, the Philadelphia Eagles signed its star wide receiver AJ Brown in a lucrative extension deal, making him the highest-paid receiver in the history of the NFL. But shortly after signing the historic deal, the Pro Bowler enlightened everyone about his retirement plans.
The 26-year-old has played for only two teams in the league. For his first three seasons, Brown pledged his loyalty to the Tennessee Titans, who drafted him in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft. His last two seasons were spent at Philly, where he made it to the Pro Bowl consecutively.
After signing the extension, Brown dethroned the Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown, who briefly held the highest-paid title. The three-time Pro Bowler also revealed that he plans to retire from the Eagles only, spending the rest of his NFL career in Philadelphia.
I'm so glad to be here. When I hang my cleats up, it's gonna be in that uniform right there. I'm not, like, ready for it to be over with, but that's the goal. I think my career took off when I got here. I went to another level. It feels right. My family's here. My girl started school again here. I got teammates, their kids, I want them to grow up together.AJ Bron said in a social media post
Brown wasn’t wrong in saying his career took off from the Eagles as in the two seasons he spent in Philly, he made the Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro consecutively.
