AJ Brown doesn’t care about what people think about his reading habits. During the Philadelphia Eagles’ crucial wild card fixture against the Green Bay Packers, the star wide receiver was seen reading Jim Murphy’s Inner Excellence, which created quite the buzz on the internet.

As it was a slow day for Brown in the game, he resorted to reading Murphy’s book to pass the time. The Eagles won the game 10-22, but the 27-year-old only caught one pass all night, adding to the already accumulated frustration throughout the season. Murphy’s book comes in handy in these sorts of situations.

None of that really matters…I’m going to continue to be myself. I’m not pretending; it’s not a facade… Who cares who don’t like it? I’m a 3x All-Pro.

Brown further elaborated that it wasn’t the first time he brought the book with him to the dugout. On the contrary, he frequently consumes Murphy’s words.

This game is 90% mental and 10% physical for me. I bring it to every game, and I read it between each drive. I use it to refocus and lock in despite what may transpire in the game, good or bad. People tend to create controversy when they don’t know the truth.

Eagles head coach will not stop AJ Brown from reading Jim Murphy’s book during game

Every athlete tends to use different methods to get into their game phase. One good example would be Super Bowl-winning quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ consumption of psychedelics. Brown finds peace in reading books and being a 3x All-Pro wideout certainly proves that it works.

When reporters asked Nick Sirianni about Brown’s reading habits, the Eagles head coach uttered the same words as the former second-round draft pick.

He’s been reading this book on the sideline for a long time. Whatever these guys need to do to play with great detail and great effort, I fully encourage them to do that.

Nick Sirianni said

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts backed Sirianni’s words that Brown always brings a book with him, but the Pro Bowler claimed he never saw the receiver read it.

I’ve never seen him read. I’ve seen the book in his hands. [But] Everybody has a different thing and finds their flow in different ways. So, that’s how he chooses to do it.

Brown’s actions kind of worked like an endorsement for Jim Murphy’s book. It became the No. 1 best seller on Amazon as per NBC Sports. Murphy personally called Brown to thank him and perhaps recommended a few other books that he should check out.
