AJ Brown caught many surprising eyes when he was spotted reading a self-help book on the sidelines of the Philadelphia Eagles’ slashy victory in the Wild-Card round. And when he met the author of the book he brings to every game, he had plenty to chat about.

Ahead of the home game against the Los Angeles Rams, Brown took special time from his busy schedule to host Jim Murphy, who authored ‘Inner Excellence,’ at the Eagles facility for an interview, as reported by PHLY’s Zach Berman and NBC Sports’ John Clark. The two were seen chatting like old buddies, leaving many astonished that it was their first encounter.

While the outcome of the interview remains to be seen, the three-time Pro Bowler talked about the book in last week’s win over the Green Bay Packers. He revealed that this wasn’t the first time he brought the book with him; he took it to every game for some light reading to help calm his mind.

Man, it gives me a sense of peace. That’s the book I bring to every game… my teammates call it my recipe.

Brown also posted photos of the book he reads between every drive on his X, including some highlighted passages, sharing what exactly gives him strength and focus on the game, believing a game is won in mind. Author Murphy has described the book as a power of teamwork, making it indeed an athlete’s recipe.

As great as the Eagles were on the field, Brown’s contribution to the game was found lacking as he made just one catch for 10 yards. However, he admitted in the post-game media interaction that he was rather pleased than frustrated by his limited production.

Felt good, felt really good. Moving around really good. It didn’t show it on the stats, but I did a lot for my teammates, blocking and stuff, so it’s all good.

Brown has repeatedly voiced his displeasure with the team’s passing game, which even made many speculate a rift between him and quarterback Jalen Hurts. However, he seems to be in a new energy in the playoffs as he refused to complain about the limited targets and looks forward to making a difference in the Divisional round
