The tempers flared towards the end of the second quarter in the NFC Championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders.

The altercation broke out between Commanders’ DB Marshon Lattimore and Eagles’ wide receiver AJ Brown. It began after Jalen Hurts scored a one-yard rushing touchdown. Brown was blocking Lattimore and shoved him after the ball was snapped.

However, the receiver’s first push did not do much damage to Lattimore. It was the second shove that irked the defensive back, as he seemed to take offense to the aggression shown by Brown. Soon after, both of them began to push one another and grabbed onto the rails of their helmets.

AJ Brown ripped off Marshon Lattimore’s helmet

The Eagles’ receiver pulled off the DB’s helmet off his head and threw it in the endzone. At this point, Marshon Lattimore had his arm wrapped around A.J. Brown and began to talk trash to him in his face.

By this point, Lattimore’s teammates began to come up and pull him off Brown. Frankie Luvu was one of the first who tried to de-escalate the situation and get the corner to back off. Soon enough, the referees intervened and broke the scuffle up. They wound up penalizing only Marshon Lattimore for unnecessary roughness while AJ Brown was not flagged over the play.

A replay of the entire fiasco shows Marshon Lattimore continuing to be aggressive and push A.J. Brown in the endzone after the wideout had stripped his helmet off.

While getting pushed, Brown seems to be implementing the learnings from his latest book because he appears to be visibly calm and puts both his hands up in the air to show that he is not engaging.
