An AJ Styles clip from last night’s WWE house show in Tampa is making the rounds on social media. As seen in the following video, the veteran wrestler is signing autographs for the fans, and he gets taken aback when a fan hands an AEW Championship over to him. Styles was chuckling and asked the fan if he was recording it.
After getting the impression that he was indeed being filmed, ‘The Phenomenal One’ affirmed on camera that even though he loved Matt and Nick, who happen to be the EVPs of All Elite Wrestling, Styles said he couldn’t sign the AEW title. It was a lighthearted moment, which infused a gust of laughter among other nearby attendees. For those who didn’t know, Styles does share a rich history with The Young Bucks.
They were part of the iconic Bullet Club faction in New Japan Pro Wrestling before AJ went to WWE. Even though Styles has never commented on it on record, AEW reportedly made advances to secure the former Bullet Club leader alongside Luke Gallows and Carl Anderson to appear on its debut episode of Dynamite in 2019. It just wasn’t to be, as they eventually re-signed with WWE.
There were strong rumors of Styles considering a short stint with AEW given his ongoing contract with WWE was stated to expire in February 2026. But ‘Mr. TNA’ has made it abundantly clear that he’ll retire from in-ring competition at some point in the upcoming year, which, more or less, has calmed the speculation spree by a mile. The upcoming WrestleMania in Las Vegas is most likely going to be his last, and WWE has seemingly figured out his opponent too.
He’s none other than Gunther, who infamously made John Cena tap out in his final WWE match earlier this month. ‘The Ring General’ has since confronted ‘The Face That Runs the Place’ on consecutive episodes of Raw. The fans believe that it couldn’t be more obvious that WWE is planning their singles match at a grand stage, which could very well end up being WrestleMania 42.
AJ Styles and Dragon Lee set for The Usos showdown on Raw
AJ Styles has been on a roll ever since winning the world tag team titles with Dragon Lee. They ousted Finn Balor and JD McDonagh of the Judgment Day over a couple of months ago. In its aftermath, Styles and Lee have successfully retained the doubles silverware in a rematch with Balor and McDonagh, The New Day, and also The War Raiders.

Moreover, on John Cena’s last night as a WWE performer, the tag team champs ousted Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater in a non-title match. This Monday night on Raw, Styles and Lee will defend their gold against The Usos in one of the most anticipated tag team matches in recent memory. Usos recently got back on the same page after months of emotional turmoil.
It’d be interesting to see if Jimmy and Jey end up dethroning the fan-favorite duo of AJ Styles and Dragon Lee on the final Raw of 2025. With Styles apparently lined up for a mega feud with Gunther, he might sooner rather than later leave the tag team wrestling vortex to focus on singles competition.
