The only sentiment echoing through the minds of wrestling fans regarding AJ Styles‘ booking in WWE is one of frustration. That feeling got restored after the veteran wrestler failed to capture the Intercontinental Championship on Raw this past Monday. It was held in Paris, and the rabid folks were yearning for a title change, but to no avail.

Breaking the silence for the first time since that loss, Styles posted an hourglass photo with his logo on Instagram, clearly insinuating that he’s running out of time. It now appears that Mr. TNA’s son, Ajay Covell Jones, is also fed up with his dad’s underwhelming booking in WWE. He interacted with a post beneath Styles’ aforementioned IG post.

It basically dragged WWE CCO Triple H for disrespecting ‘The Phenomenal One’ by booking him to lose when it mattered the most every single time. Styles’ son concurred with it by saying, “You ain’t the only one man.”

Whether that would be enough to make the top brass care about it remains to be seen. The fans firmly believe it should’ve been a no-brainer to crown the Jacksonville-born wrestler as the brand-new IC Champion in France.

However, it just took an El Grande Americano to rob the legendary superstar of his glory against Dominik Mysterio. The latter has now scored two pinfall victories over the former Bullet Club leader. Even after what transpired on Raw, Styles is seemingly not done chasing the mid-card title belt. But before that, he’ll have to fend off Americano in their scheduled singles match on Raw tonight.

AJ Styles might leave WWE in early 2026

When AJ Styles made his return at this year’s Royal Rumble from a Lisfranc injury, the fans learned that he had signed an extension. Shortly after his recent hourglass post, which caused an online stir regarding his immediate future, Fightful noted that Styles is under a WWE contract until February 2026.

Unless he agrees to extend it further, ‘The Georgia Pitbull’ would become a free agent just before WrestleMania 42. The temptation of having one last WrestleMania moment might push him to stay with WWE, but one can’t say for sure. Also, after turning 48 years old in June, there’s not much time left on the timeline Styles has in mind to call it a day on his wrestling career.

He told Chris Van Vliet earlier this year that the fans wouldn’t see him competing inside the squared circle at 50 years old. That slims down the window even further with less than a couple of years left for the real-life Allen Jones to have that one last hurrah.

Could AJ Styles join AEW after WWE contract expiration?

With his WWE contract up in early 2026, AJ Styles is truly in the twilight of his in-ring career. But before riding off into the sunset, the former IWGP Champion could ply his trade in All Elite Wrestling. ‘The Face That Runs the Place’ has had conversations with WWE’s rival promotion in the past, but never jumped ship.

However, if he were to have a run under Tony Khan‘s creative leadership, there might not be a better time than doing it after his time in WWE comes to an end in February next year. Khan was reportedly interested in bringing Styles in from the get-go. Dave Meltzer confirmed while replying to a fan on X that the AEW CEO wanted the former WWE Champion for the debut episode of Dynamite in 2019.

Had it been put together, Styles would’ve laid out his former Bullet Club members, viz., Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, with the help of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, to kick off a mega feud. However, at the time, the former OC members decided to stay with WWE.
