For much of this season, A’ja Wilson did not seem like the player who dominated last season en route to her 3rd league MVP award. She seemed to struggle with the new teammates that surrounded her.

Then, around the All-Star break, the Aces front office made some changes. One of those involved trading for NaLyssa Smith, and the other was sending Jewell Loyd to the bench.

The combination of those moves worked, and the team was now back to the free-flowing style that brought them back-to-back WNBA titles. More importantly, it allowed Wilson to do what she pleased.

After the humiliating loss to the Fever more than a month ago, the Aces have recorded 10 wins out of 15 games. That is their best stretch so far, and A’ja Wilson’s imprints are all over this record.

Up until that game against the Fever, Wilson had notched 30+ points on just 2 occasions. Since then, she recorded 4 of them, the latest of which helped her set a new WNBA record.

In their game against the Connecticut Sun, the 29-year-old dominated both ends of the court. She scored 32 points while grabbing a season-high 20 rebounds, along with 5 assists and 2 steals. This happens to be the only 30+ points and 20+ rebound game by any player in league history.

The 2-time champion is continuing to rack up records after obliterating the season points record and the total rebounding record last season. WNBA fans are accustomed to seeing the South Carolina star dominate games, but this was a different definition of domination.

Fans shocked after dominating performance from A’ja Wilson

Many WNBA fans believe last season was A’ja Wilson’s most dominating run yet. Owing those records, along with a 3rd league MVP award, while also winning the Paris Olympics MVP award after leading Team USA to another gold medal was more than enough to justify her label as the best player in the world.

But fans were not ready to see a new dimension unlock in the form of this total performance. The Aces superstar might have liked to get some blocks along with those other numbers, but even without them, fans were left in awe with what could be the best performance this season.

WNBA fans believe this performance, along with her recent form, should propel her back into the MVP race. They believe these stats prove that she is above and beyond other players. Check out examples of those reactions below.

A’ja Wilson has 13 more games to catch up and overtake Napheesa Collier in the MVP race. If such performances continue, she might be in the running to win her 4th league MVP award.

A’ja Wilson and Aces have chance to catch 2nd-place Liberty

The defending champion New York Liberty is currently 2nd in the standings with a record of 20-11. The Aces are just 3 games behind, and in better form than their rivals.

Along with their form, they have more home games, as well as an easier schedule than the Liberty. If they continue to win games, and the defending champions struggle, there is a chance that the Aces can overtake them for 2nd place.

Of course, the Atlanta Dream and Phoenix Mercury would want to have a say in that, but the Aces have a chance to get the upper hand over them if they win the 2 contests they have with each of those teams.

Last season, A’ja Wilson and her teammates could not get past the Liberty in the playoffs. This season, with health permitting, they have a chance to fight for another championship.
