A’ja Wilson caught red-handed by mom for NSFW joke after historic feat
2-time MVP and Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson scripts WNBA history to be first player to score 1000 points.

Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson etches her name in WNBA history books by surpassing 1000 points
Last season, A’ja Wilson lost her third straight MVP bid due to one vote. She eventually won her second straight WNBA title and Finals MVP. That win over last year’s MVP, Breanna Stewart, suggested the Las Vegas Aces star had the last laugh. However, no one envisioned her coming into this season with a fire in her belly.
She used that fire to play at an unbelievably high level from the start of this season. While many understood she had the MVP in her sights, no one saw her becoming the first player in league history to eclipse 1000 points. To celebrate that, her teammate Sydney Colson first tweeted on X;
That’s now 2 balls you’ve been able to take home with you this season A'ja Wilson.Sydney Colson via X
To this the 28-year-old replied

As this reply seemed laced with an NSFW reference, her mother stepped in to stop her saying such things. A’ja Wilson, however, joked about her mother’s account being hacked. Her reference was probably intended at her rumored relationship with Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo.
However, her mother, Eva R. Wilson, did not appreciate her daughter talking about it in the most NSFW way possible. The Aces star is known to have a playful character as Las Vegas Aces videos show her leading the team in trolls and humor.
She does not hesitate to take sly digs at her own situation as well. As was evident after she was put in a spot by Miami-Dade mayor during Adebayo’s key ceremony. Being unserious at other times is part of her character, so is also being locked in when it comes to basketball.
A’ja Wilson sets WNBA milestone with MVP level performance against championship contenders
When the Connecticut Sun traded for Marina Mabrey before the All-Star break, those following the league knew the Las Vegas Aces‘ goal of becoming the first team to three-peat had another obstacle in their path. The Sun were already good before Mabrey arrived and this catapulted them to the top.
The Las Vegas Aces on the other hand had fans and analysts worried when they lost some games. Since then, they have been on a resurgence. Winning games against playoff opponents was the first step. However, the win against the Connecticut Sun tonight was their statement. Not only did A’ja Wilson lead the scoring charts on her way to scripting history, but their overall defense stifled the Sun’s stars.
If this was any indication of how they will play in the playoffs, the rest of the league needs to rethink their gameplans. A’ja Wilson seems to be on a mission to cement her name in WNBA history. A third straight title and Finals MVP will go a long way to cement that.
