Negative discourse isn’t going to leave the WNBA anytime soon. The latest is A’ja Wilson, after she walked up to an Indiana Fever fan and confronted him for pointing at her.

The Las Vegas Aces star had just thumped Sophie Cunningham to the ground when this fan, who was standing, pointed at Wilson and said something to the tune of ‘that’s on you.’

He meant that the foul was Wilson’s. That did not sit well with the superstar, and she confronted the fan. The man was removed temporarily but allowed to return to his seat after the Fever determined he did nothing wrong.

Wilson defended her actions, and that drew a lot of smoke from fans, other athletes, and even some in the media. Even her teammates and head coach defended her actions. But one individual stood by her the most, and that was Eva Wilson.

After her daughter’s clutch performances saw the Aces win Game 3 to book their tickets to the semifinals, Mrs. Wilson walked past several fans holding a heart-shaped sign that read, ‘Love Beats Hate.’

One fan decided to ask her about it. He politely confronted the three-time champion’s mother and asked what she meant by her card, or whether she was insinuating that the Indiana Fever fans were the haters.

Eva Wilson kept increasing her voice and replied that the words were self-explanatory. At this moment, this fan mentioned that her aggressive responses indicated that it was she who was speaking in a hateful manner. By now, those around him stepped in and shielded A’ja Wilson‘s mother.

A’ja Wilson head coach shuts down comparisons to Fever

Now that A’ja Wilson and her Las Vegas Aces have managed to end their battle against the Indiana Fever for the second straight season, they will probably avoid the drama and the noise until next season.

But that was before another short clip went viral. This time, it was neither of the players, nor any fan, nor any post on social media.

It was a question thrown at Becky Hammon asking whether she found any parallels between the Fever Big 3 that they just faced and the Aces Big 3 she inherited when she joined the team years ago.

No.

Becky Hammon replied

The Hall of Famer’s short and immediate reaction drew a chuckle from A’ja Wilson. Later, when the reporter pressed that she was asking about the potential, both Hammon and her leading superstar agreed that the Fever do have what it takes to be great in the future.

The head coach and Wilson also clarified that unlike the Aces, who had three No. 1 overall picks at the time, the Fever actually just have two in Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. Therefore, the comparison was not completely accurate.

A’ja Wilson and Aces will face the No. 2 seed Valkyries in semifinals

Last year, when A’ja Wilson and her Las Vegas Aces defeated the Indiana Fever, they went on to win their third WNBA title in four years. This season, they would hope that the norm continues as they move to the semifinals.

Before they can reach the 2026 Finals, they have to go through the Golden State Valkyries. The latter managed to upset the Dallas Wings despite their heroic efforts in Game 2 to keep the series alive.

It will be an ironic matchup, considering that the Valkyries are coached by Natalie Nakase, who was formerly the Aces’ assistant coach under Becky Hammon. Then two of their players were part of the Aces and know their former teammates’ intricate details.

The Aces will also have to face the passionate Bay Area fans, who have generally been one of the loudest in the league. The semifinals are in a best-of-five format, which means the higher-seeded Valkyries will host A’ja Wilson and the Aces for the first two games at Chase Center.
