A’ja Wilson went from being the No. 1 overall pick to the best player in the league. Three regular-season MVPs, multiple All-NBA selections, and twice a Defensive Player of the Year, along with 2 championships, are accolades that define her legacy.

Last year, she set new records in single-season scoring and rebounds, as she left other MVP candidates in the dust. Along with her superlative performance at the Paris Olympics, she has established herself as the best in the world.

She has elite footwork, shot control, the ability to track opponents, as well as the ability to understand their schemes and adjust. All of that helps her overpower anyone who tries to contain her.

When it comes to overpowering opponents, the South Carolina native is also very strong and can battle with the best of them. When the Minnesota Lynx tried to set a screen on her, Kayla McBride felt the full force of that strength.

McBride wanted to seal A’ja Wilson off so that Napheesa Collier could get an easy shot from behind the 3-point line. In her attempts to do so, the Lynx guard first pushed the Las Vegas Aces superstar while locking her arms.

In response, the reigning league MVP used her power to shove McBride back. The Lynx guard fell to the floor, and her teammates rushed to help. Wilson was nonchalant about it and knew her response was going to draw a foul.

Fans in awe watching A’ja Wilson display her strength

The WNBA is known for its competitiveness and physical brand of basketball. The women in the league do not take anything for granted and usually respond if an opponent tries to push them too hard. Even guards such as Caitlin Clark do not hold back against bigger players.

When it comes to the 6′ 4″ forward/center, her physical attributes were on full display during the Paris Olympics final. However, in that game, fans saw her absorb bump after bump and still come out on top. This time, she was using her strength to get a player off her.

Fans were stunned at the fact that she could manhandle play with almost similar weight in that manner. Wilson first balanced herself from Kayla McBride’s push, and then responding in that manner left fans scrambling for the right words to describe what they saw. Check out examples of their reactions below.

A’ja Wilson is one of those crafty players who uses her strength, length, and deft touch to outperform everyone around her. This play could be a statement that opponents cannot come into a game and push her around.

A’ja Wilson and Aces lose embarrassingly to Lynx

After winning their 1st home game after the All-Star break, the Las Vegas Aces embarked on a grueling road trip. This trip would take them flying across the country, not leaving them enough time to catch their breath.

After losing to the Indiana Fever, they flew to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Lynx the very next day. It could be fatigue or lack of practice. Whatever the reason was, Aces fans would have expected something better than what their team delivered.

Their efforts to try to keep pace with the league leaders were futile as they struggled to match the Lynx’s scoring. A’ja Wilson did her bit with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots. However, her star teammate Jewell Loyd‘s 0-10 night did not help matters.

By the 3rd quarter, head coach Becky Hammon had seen enough and benched her starters. This embarrassing 78-109 loss should pose a lot of questions about their chances when the playoffs come around.
