There were some big injury scares for Team India during their practice on Sunday ahead of the Boxing Day Test match against Australia, starting on December 26 at the MCG. There was need for medical attention when captain Rohit Sharma suffered an injury to his knee during practice in the nets. Pacer Akash Deep also suffered an injury scare, but it was later revealed that there are no concerns regarding the blows of both cricketers.

Deep suffered a blow to his arm while batting in the nets on Sunday. During the press conference, he was asked about the injuries of him and the Indian captain, to which the pacer said that these are common in cricket and there is nothing to worry about.

Such blows are common when you play cricket. I think this (practice) wicket was for white ball which is why the ball kept low at times. But these blows are common in training. There are no major concerns because of that.

Akash Deep said at the press-conference on Sunday

The series is precariously level at 1-1. India stunned everyone with a comprehensive win in the first Test in Perth. Australia came storming back with a 10-wicket victory in the pink ball Test in the Adelaide Test.

They were the dominant side in the Brisbane Test, but rain played a vital part in stalling their progress. If India win one more Test, they will retain the BGT Trophy, and will qualify for the WTC final without depending on any side if they win both Test matches at the MCG and the SCG.

Cheteshwar Pujara has provided a plan to dismiss Travis Head at the MCG

Travis Head has been the thorn against India in the recent outings. He played two match-winning innings in the WTC 2023 final and the ODI World Cup 2023 final against India. He has gone on his merry way with two centuries in Adelaide and Brisbane in this series.

Head has also scored 80 plus runs in the first Test in Perth. The Indian bowlers have looked clueless against the onslaught from the Southpaw. Cheteshwar Pujara wants the Indian bowlers to bowl middle-off to Head.

Line is very important. Keep middle-off stumps line, Even if you are bowling over the stumps or around the wicket, don’t let the middle stump play as off-stump. The line should always be middle-off. In that line, he [Travis Head] looks very uncomfortable

Cheteshwar Pujara told Star Sports

Meanwhile, former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar wants Team India bowlers to bowl from round the wicket and target his off stump at the start of the innings when Head is new to the crease. If they don’t find success with the plan, then they should revert to over the wicket with more fielders on the leg side and a third man in place.
