Alabama fans gave head coach Kalen DeBoer a hard time for not living up to his predecessor, Nick Saban’s, standards, but only a genius tactician like DeBoer can think about his offensive tackle as a receiver. Georgia players, coaches, and fans looked shell-shocked when the big frame of Kadyn Proctor charged towards the Bulldogs’ secondary.
Two minutes after UG running back Chauncey Bowens reduced Bama’s lead to three points, Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson orchestrated a 60+ yard drive into the Georgia half.
With 46 ticks on the clock, DeBoer and his OC, Nick Sheridan, dived into their bag of tricks. Fans inside the Sanford Stadium watched something unique unfold in front of their eyes.
6’7″, nearly 360-lb lineman Kadyn Proctor, whose job is guarding Simpson, lined up as an eligible receiver on left field. From first and ten, Simpson threw a bubble screen to Proctor, and the junior bulldozed his way through a couple of Bulldogs to secure the first down by covering 11 yards.

Kadyn Proctor’s gutsy play culminates in Ty Simpson’s winner for Alabama
Bama traveled to Georgia on the back of two straight wins against LA Monroe and Wisconsin. However, their season and DeBoer’s coaching came under serious scrutiny after losing to Florida State on opening day. Despite throwing 250+ yards and two touchdowns, a series of fumbles handed the Noles the win.

Georgia installed Gunner Stockton as the starting quarterback after Carson Beck moved to Miami, and the redshirt junior breezed past Marshall and Austin Peay before securing a 44-41 overtime win over the 15th-ranked Tennessee.
The undefeated UG were -148 odds favorites to defeat Bama in their own backyard. However, a couple of Simpson touchdown passes to Bernard and Isaiah Horton (both 6 yards) quieted the Athens crowd down.
Stockton answered two minutes after Bama’s second score. Georgia’s shot caller threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Colbie Young and helped Bowen score his third rushing TD of the year to keep the game interesting.
Proctor’s run created the opening Bama needed to put daylight between them in UG. In the final play of the drive, Simpson faked a toss to Bernard to walk home for a 2-yard score.

Josh McCray’s one-yard run midway through the fourth quarter was of little consequence to the outcome, as Bama secured a 24-21 victory.
The defeat snapped a 33-game home win streak for Georgia, dating back to their championship-winning season in 2022.
