Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez involved in feud with manager Gian Piero Gasperini and wants to move out in January
Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez is a talented player for Atalanta and might leave in the month of January if things aren’t resolved soon

Atalanta midfielder Alejandro Gomez has been involved in a fight with manager Gian Piero Gasperini. The fight allegedly occurred in a Champions League clash against Midtjylland and still hasn’t been resolved. Gasperini has admitted that he doesn’t know how the issue will be resolved and sorry that Josip Ilicic was involved in this feud due to rumours.

“We have to evolve, whatever the cause”

Throughout the match against Fiorentina, Gasperini didn’t use Gomez and the latter was on the bench. It seems surprising when he didn’t play when he was uninjured, as he was the X-factor against Liverpool when defeating them at Anfield. He assisted Josip Ilicic’s goal and had a major hand in the second goal as his cross was converted into a goal.

Despite this performance, Gomez was absent in the match against Fiorentina and it was attributed to his bust-up with Gasperini. Gasperini stated that the team had to evolve and will evolve even if its star players had to leave. He said he had to rest Gomez after 9 Serie A matches and 6 Champions League games were played by him. Despite the reason, it would seem that the fight between manager and player is too big.

It is reported that the club management has decided to stick with the manager and not the player and Gomez is looking to leave the club in January.
