The number 4th ranked Light Heavyweight fighter Aleksandar Rakic made a huge step towards the next title shot with a win against former UFC title contender Thiago Santos at UFC 259.

This is Rakic’s second consecutive win and with this, he will climb to number 2 in the rankings when it will be updated. For Santos, it was his third consecutive loss and he is getting far and far from getting the title in his hands.

Aleksandar Rakic displayed a domination performance against Santos and he was ahead in almost two rounds of the fight. In the UFC 259 post-fight press conference, Rakic says, “I’m happy, I was dominant. I won all three rounds. I kept the pace. I pushed forward.”

“I led the fight. I went the distance. I controlled the center. I controlled the clinching, and I hit him with some hard kicks, one high kick, a couple of punches, so a dominant performance, and I’m happy about my performance.”

“We know Thiago is a striker, so we said OK, let’s strike with this guy, and let’s dominate him, Basically, I like to dominate guys where they are the strongest.”

With just 29 years of age, Aleksandar Rakic has fought against one of the toughest guys in the division and he is next in the line for sure after Glover Teixeira for the title shot. Rakic believes that he is hitting his prime.

He added, “I’m the type of guy improving every day, I’m training all my skills every day, and I’m improving like I cannot explain. You need to follow me for like a month and see. I have the best coaches in my corner.”

“I told Dana White that I am the new face of the light heavyweight division, I am young, I am hungry, I fight well. I have a good record, and I am representing the sport the best way. I’m a good guy. Let’s see what the UFC decides.”
