Alex Bowman takes a dig at NASCAR media over HMS exit rumors after Justin Haley’s Spire announcement
Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman mocked the rumors that suggested he was going to Spire Motorsports after they signed Justin Haley.

The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been marked with infuriating exit rumors for Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman. He came into the season with a chip on his shoulders to perform after missing out on playoffs in 2023 and with Willaim Byron’s massive improvement in performance effectively made him the fourth best driver at the HMS garage.
Though he secured a spot in the playoff winning the Chicago Street race, he hasn’t been able to produce performance that proves he is on the same elite level as his teammate sparking rumors that he might move on Spire Motorsports in 2025. The driver has denied the rumors many times after getting assurance from Rick Hendrick, and now with Spire signing Justin Haley his seat seems to secure or 2025.
With Justin Haley announced Friday as the driver of the Spire No. 7 car next year, that is another sign that Alex Bowman is good for another season in the Hendrick No. 48 car. Alex Bowman shared the same sentiment while talking to the media after the Spire announcement. He pointed out that the Haley signing proves he has been right all the time and mocked the NASCAR media for not listening to him. The No:48 Chevy driver asserted that everything is good on his side for the 2025 season with HMS.

Alex Bowman is a front runner to win at Bristol
The NASCAR Cup garage at Bristol for the playoff race and Bowman has secured his spot in the R-12 already with consistent performance in the first round, as he is 41 points above the cutline. Despite the advantage he is determined to cap it off with a win to fuel championship chase.

He has got a great start to pull it off as the No:48 car will start in the front row for the race on Sunday after he won pole defeating teammates Kyle Larson and William Byron who will start behind him. It is a confidence booster for the team as well, as they have been struggling in qualifying this season.
Qualifying has [not been] our strongest suit over the years, so being a cutoff race and everything, starting up front is definitely important.Alex Bowman said.
There is a lot of momentum on the side of HMS driver going into the race at Bristol due to the confidence he gained from the pole. It will be interesting to see if he can go on to win the race and how the reminder the of the season will playout for him.
