Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora agrees to a $21.75 million contract extension with the organization after several rumors and controversies. He would have landed in the free agency after this season, and many speculated which team he will be joining next.
Finally, the question has been answered! To celebrate his first game after the signing, the Red Sox wiped out the New York Yankees with a 9-7 record on Friday night. While talking about the reasons behind his stay, he noted, “how much (my family and I) love this and how great this place is.”

Cora said it’s his “dream job” to work with the Red Sox organization after the disastrous 2017 incident. He believed it would be tough to make a comeback to the diamond after being fired in 2020 and getting suspended during the ongoing season from the Houston Astros.
Following the league’s investigation of the Astros 2017 sign-stealing case, then-bench coach Alex Cora was found to be one of the masterminds of the incident. The scandal shook the MLB world and he worried for his future in the game.
"The back and forth the last three innings, it was what it used to be here. That's the way it should be."

However, Cora notes how the Red Sox have given him the chance to restart and he’s immensely thankful for that. He said,
These people, they gave me a chance in 2017. After the scandal and the suspension, they gave me a chance to come to the team. And that’s something that was very important in our decision.Alex Cora as per Mark W. Sanchez of NY Post.
He said “this organization means to us is the world” and he wants to repay the trust they have shown to him since Day 1. “This is home for us,” he noted. Yankees manager Aaron Boone also congratulated him on his stay with the Red Sox despite their team rivalry.
Aaron Boone wants a treat the next time he sees Alex Cora
Despite the New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox decade-long rivalry, Yanks manager Aaron Boone congratulated him on his stay with the Red Sox. Boone claimed that the contract extension was “much deserved” and he’ll be waiting for a treat from him the next time they meet.

Boone expressed how Cora is crucial for the Red Sox team and him being a part of that organization means a lot. “Happy for him,” Boone said.
Happy for him. Obviously he’s a big part of that organization and what they do. One of the game’s really great managers. I’m happy for him, much deserved. He’s paying next time I see him.Aaron Boone as per Mark W. Sanchez of NY Post.
