Iga Swiatek has remained dominant in the WTA this season thanks to her aggressive style of play, which leaves her opponent with no chance. The Polish star proved how good she was after beating Coco Gauff to reach the French Open, with Alex Corretja full of praise for her display.

The World No.1 has only lost 14 games since the second round, a reminder of how she defeated Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-0 in just 40 minutes. Her clinical display against Gauff forced the American to make 18 unforced errors during their semifinal match. The Polish star’s clinical returns and 68% first serve helped her claim a 6-2, 6-4 win over Gauff.

Though Gauff might have left her teenage hood after turning 20 a few weeks ago, Swiatek seems to have a commanding 11-1 head-to-head record against her now. Additionally, for Swiatek, it was her 16th victory over the Top 5 since becoming World No.1 in March last year. She has also extended her unbeaten streak to 20 matches.

She is the clear favorite to claim her fourth French Open title on Saturday following her victories in Madrid and Rome. As she continues to grow in confidence, Alex Corretja how difficult it is to beat Swiatek.

It's difficult to play against her because she moves extremely well and is now hitting the ball harder than ever. So, it's so tough because her forehand is solid and she was spinning the ball very well due to the hot conditions today. She was deep in her baseline. And good with her serve and return. Coco tried her best but it was not enough against a brilliant Swiatek today.

Meanwhile, Swiatek will be hoping to claim the clay triple (Madrid-Rome-French Open) this season. She will also be the first woman since Justine Henin to win the French Open three consecutive times.

Iga Swiatek to face Jasmine Paolini in the final of the French Open

Iga Swiatek would play Italian Jasmine Paolini in the final of the French Open on Saturday. Understandably, the World No.1 is the favorite to win the match, but the Italian has been playing consistent tennis that has seen her beat Elena Rybakina and Mirra Andreeva to reach the final.

Swiatek is leading 2:0 in their head-to-head meetings with Paolini winning a combined total of six games in both matches. However, the last time they met was six years ago. Both have now become better players since then. It will be an exciting match, as both players will aim to get the better of each other.

Nevertheless, for Paolini, playing in the final of the French Open is more than a dream come true. She became the first Italian woman to reach the final of a Grand Slam event since Roberta Vinci at the 2015 US Open. She is also the first Italian to reach the final of the French Open since Sara Errani in 2012.
