Former World No.2 Alex Corretja confessed that he was scared after encountering an obsessive stalker during his playing days. His comments came following the disturbing incident that happened with Emma Raducanu during the ongoing Dubai Open.
Raducanu was targeted by a man who exhibited fixated behavior a day before her second-round Dubai Open clash with Karolina Muchova. He left her a note, clicked her photo, and engaged in behavior that troubled the young British ace. She suffered from intense emotional distress after seeing that man again during the match versus Muchova and hid herself behind the chair of the umpire.
That spectator, whose name has not been revealed yet, was ejected from the court by police. Raducanu dropped the charges but a restraining order has been issued against him. While discussing the incident, Corretja narrated how a fan from the AC Gang, who had the face of someone ‘obsessed or had a serious mental disorder’ always followed him wherever he went.
But there was one time when a fan came up to me who wanted to say hello, but you could see him as very obsessive. From then on I saw him in all my matches. He was there for all my games and when I arrived at the hotel, he was there too. He sent me letters to the room, and photos of me for me to sign, and he always came back with a shirt with my photo printed on it.

Sam Smith lauds Emma Raducanu’s mental strength after stalker incident
The disturbing incident happened during the first set. Emma Raducanu, after regaining her composure, came from 4-0 to force the set into the tie-breaker. She eventually lost the match 7-6(6), 6-4. Sam Smith, a former WTA player, lauded her compatriot for her ability to focus on the match after suffering from a full-blown panic attack.

Emma had the presence of mind to stop, talk to the umpire. It looked as if the tournament reacted very quickly, so did the WTA, and the person was removed very quickly.
Sam Smith told Sky Sports News
Raducanu has been dealing with a poor run of forms, for she hasn’t yet made it to the fourth round of any tournaments she played this year. Following her third-round defeat to Iga Swiatek at the Australian Open, she registered three consecutive first-round losses before the WTA 1000 event in Dubai.
