After his tough third-round victory at Roland Garros, Alex de Minaur headed straight to the courtside to hug a young fan. This fan, who had been cheering tirelessly despite the cold and rain, gave de Minaur the motivation he needed during his match against Jan-Lennard Struff.
The duel, which was disrupted by rain and lasted over eight hours, tested de Minaur’s endurance. He credited the unwavering support of the young spectator for helping him push through the most challenging moments of the match.
That young lad was there from the very first point till the last with five hours of rain delay. Every single point I won, he was screaming at my face. I was locking eyes with him. He gave me life. I was happy to get a win together with him.Alex de Mianur said in his post-match interview.
De Minaur was so moved by his new No.1 fan that he gifted the young supporter a towel after securing his 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 win. Later, he took to social media to ask for help in identifying the young fan so he could express his gratitude properly.

The Australian has reached his Round of 16 of Grand Slams 6 times. He will look to reach his second Grand Slam quarter-final when he encounters sixth seed Daniil Medvedev in a couple of days.
Alex De Minaur finishes strong against Jan-Lennard Struff to reach French Open 4th round
Alex de Minaur, who previously had a win over legendary Rafael Nadal on clay earlier this year, secured his most significant victory on the surface by surpassing the powerful German Jan-Lennard Struff to advance to the second week of the French Open for the first time.
The Australian made a major leap in his career by rallying to beat the in-form Struff 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 in 2 hours and 53 minutes. The match was interrupted by the poor weather that had plagued Paris throughout the week.
De Minaur, who had never progressed beyond the second round at Roland Garros before, has shown significant improvement on clay throughout the European swing. It all started with his strong performance against world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the Monte Carlo quarterfinal.
His reward for this breakthrough is a Grand Slam-level match against three-time Australian Open finalist Daniil Medvedev. The Russian previously defeated de Minaur in a tough four-set clash in New York last year. The upcoming match will determine who advances to the quarterfinals.
