A few years ago, Jake Paul was just an ordinary YouTuber and content creator for the individuals in the combat sports community. However, since he transitioned into professional boxing, the ‘Problem Child’ has generated significant buzz. One major reason for this is his consistent callouts for high-profile matchups. Notably, he once called out UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.

In the current UFC landscape, Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira is considered one of the dominant forces in the promotion. He is currently scheduled to face Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313. Days before the fight, the UFC light heavyweight champion participated in an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow. During the conversation, Pereira revealed the reason behind his viral FaceTime moment with Jake Paul in July 2024.

I think that was more for the media, for the hype you know. I don’t necessarily know if that makes a lot of sense. Maybe for an exhibition match or something like that but honestly I’m on another level, granted he is a boxer now. He’s a guy that trains boxing but I just feel like I’m different, on a different level

Initially, Paul was scheduled to face Mike Tyson in July 2024. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Tyson was replaced by Mike Perry. Both Paul and Perry competed in an eight-round cruiserweight bout, where Paul comfortably defeated the former UFC fighter. With his confidence soaring, the ‘Problem Child’ immediately expressed his desire to fight ‘Poatan’ Pereira next.

Interestingly, just minutes later, Paul was spotted on a video call with Pereira. However, the UFC champ has consistently expressed his skepticism about this potential matchup. Once again, Pereira appeared to dismiss the idea, as he is currently under contract with the UFC. Despite this, the ‘Problem Child’ has repeatedly called out ‘Poatan’ and several other prominent fighters within the combat sports community.

What does Dana White think about Jake Paul’s consistent call-out of top fighters?

Amid the ongoing discussions, Jake Paul is not viewed as one of the top boxers who receives admiration from the combat sports community. Throughout his boxing career, he has primarily fought against retired or out-of-their-prime MMA and boxing legends. As a result, the ‘Problem Child’ has faced significant scrutiny from numerous prominent figures, including UFC CEO Dana White.

Over the years, Paul has made several scathing remarks about White and his company regarding various controversial activities. One major topic that the ‘Problem Child’ has criticized is the pay issue faced by UFC fighters. Additionally, the UFC CEO does not have a positive opinion of the YouTuber-turned-boxer. In an interview, White even shared his thoughts on Paul’s antics.

I stopped paying attention to Jake Paul when he lost to Fury. You know what I mean? It’s like when he fought somebody that was his age and actually boxed, he lost. And I’m not sh*tting on the kid, and I don’t even think about him anymore. It doesn’t even cross my mind; I have no beef with him.

White pointed out the only blemish on Paul’s career. Notably, the Problem Child made his professional boxing debut in 2020. Since then, despite defeating every opponent he has faced, he suffered a loss to fellow rising professional boxer Tommy Fury. Like many in the combat sports community, even the UFC CEO doubts that Paul has achieved anything particularly remarkable in his career.
