UFC superstar Alex Pereira faced top contender Magomed Ankalaev last night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. In a surprising upset, the Russian defeated ‘Poatan’ via unanimous decision to claim the title. The result drew attention from fans, including Pereira’s ex-girlfriend, who took the opportunity to mock the Brazilian.

Pereira went into the fight as a fan favorite. Against Magomed Ankalaev, Poatan struggled to find his rhythm. He was able to defend the takedowns but got outstruck on the feet and spent most of his time backing out. After the loss, Alex Pereira’s ex-girlfriend Merle Christine went on social media to bash the former champion.

After the result was announced, there was slight backlash about the judge’s decision, as some fans and experts believe Pereira should have been awarded the victory. However, Christine expressed that it wasn’t a robbery, and the Russian clearly won the fight and even called out Pereira’s fans.

Ankalaev had a great plan and he utilized it perfectly in order to evade Pereira’s brutal left hook. He managed to mix it up and kept the Brazilian guessing throughout the fight. While Pereira had a humble reaction to the loss, the same cannot be said about his reaction to Christine’s comments.

Alex Pereira and his ex-girlfriend Merle Christine got separated last year and publicly talked about it. The Brazilian superstar mentioned that he found out that Christine was married to another individual. Since then, the UFC superstar has been on an undefeated streak, knocking out all his opponents.

This time, it wasn’t the case and it gave Christine the perfect opportunity to rub salt on the wound. However, it seems like Pereira’s mental toughness and the ability to take a loss is much higher. Poatan made sure to give a befitting reply on social media.

Pereira believed he had done enough to win, but Ankalaev swiftly dismissed those claims. UFC CEO Dana White has hinted at a possible immediate rematch, which many fans are eager to see. Regardless, seeing what’s next for ‘Poatan’ will be interesting.
