Alex Rodriguez came up short and missed out on the MLB Hall of Fame induction again. On Tuesday, the votes of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) for the 2025 MLB Hall of Fame were revealed. While two of his former New York Yankees teammates Ichiro Suzuki and CC Sabathia joined Cooperstown along with Billy Wagner, he was once again left out.
The 14-time MLB All-Star has several accomplishments alongside his name. He has won a World Series ring, has been the AL MVP on three occasions and sits fifth in the most home runs hit list with 696 bombs in his 22-year career.
Despite all of this, A-Rod has yet to make it to the MLB Hall of Fame. A major reason for this has been his history of usage of Performance-enhancing Drugs (PEDs). After denying the usage of this, in 2009 he finally admitted to using them.
This has put a taint on his MLB legacy. In his previous three tries, A-Rod received 34.3, 35.7, and 32.5 percent of votes respectively. In his fourth year on the ballot, the shortstop had a bit higher percentage of votes. This year he received 37.1 percent votes and finished 7th in the rankings.

For a player to enter the MLB Hall of Fame, they need around 75 percent of votes. A player gets 10 chances to get in. If they fall down to 5 percent of votes, they are taken off the ballot.
A-Rod is still far away from the 75 percent of votes. This year he picked up 146 votes out of the 394. Rodriguez will have six more chances. However, given his history with PEDs, it will be hard for him to make it to Cooperstown just like Barry Bonds.
Alex Rodriguez congratulates Ichiro Suzuki and CC Sabathia for their induction into the MLB Hall of Fame
While Alex Rodriguez may not have made it into the Hall of Fame this year, two of his ex-teammates are heading to Cooperstown. Following the official announcement of Ichiro Suzuki and CC Sabathia, Rodriguez congratulated them on X.
Suzuki became the first Japanese-born player to be selected into the Hall of Fame. He received a total of 99.7 percent of votes and fell one short of a unanimous induction. Rodriguez would call him one of the best hitters he had ever seen.
Congratulations to Ichiro Suzuki on being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame! Without a doubt one of the greatest pure hitters I've ever seen. #halloffame #ichirosuzuki pic.twitter.com/i0g6PYVpJj

Sabathia received 86.8 percent of votes from the BBWAA writers. The southpaw spent 19 seasons in the major league and played a huge part alongside A-Rod in the Yankees 2009 World Series triumph. Rodriguez would hail him as one of the “best teammates” ever.
.@CC_Sabathia is one of the best teammates ever! We became a championship team when he joined our roster in 2009.

Rodriguez also congratulated Billy Wagner. The former Houston Astros pitcher was in the final year of his eligibility this time. He though received a total of 82.5 votes and made it into the Hall of Fame. A-Rod would be hoping for a similar story in the future.
