Superstar Juan Soto has become the talk of the town after his record-breaking deal with the New York Mets on Sunday. The five-time MLB Silver Slugger agreed on a massive 15-year $765 million deal with the National League side. Former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez shared a hilarious reaction regarding it.

Soto has been the main attraction in the offseason this year. Several reports claimed that the 26-year-old will land a contract worth $600 million or more in the free agency.

The speculated number was left way behind as reports started emerging that the bidding war for him had crossed the $750 million mark. In the end, Soto picked the 15-year $765 million deal of the Mets instead of returning to the Yankees on a 16-year $760 million offer.

Since the news broke out, social media has been left divided by the huge number involved in this deal. Reacting to this development, Alex Rodriguez had a funny message.

A-Rod would take to his social media accounts and post a video of himself. In the video, the former Yankee star is seen using a calculator and trying to break down the contract of Soto. “POV: Every baseball fan trying to breakdown the Soto contract today” Rodriguez shared.

In the caption, A-Rod congratulated Soto and called him a generational talent.

Congratulations to my friend and generational talent @JuanSoto25_

Interestingly, Rodriguez and Soto both had Scott Boras on their side while agreeing to massive deals. 24 years ago in 2000, Boras and his then-client Rodriguez agreed to a 10-year $252 million deal with the Texas Rangers.

After being unable to achieve success with the Rangers, Rodriguez was traded to the Yankees in 2004. Following that he went to achieve several accolades and retired as one of the greats of the game.

MLB insider claims Steve Cohen played major role in Juan Soto’s deal with NY Mets

The race for Juan Soto came down between the two New York teams. As per an MLB insider, the Yankees were reported to be leading the race for Soto on Sunday until Steve Cohen stepped up.

As per SNY’s Andy Martino, Cohen had a late meeting with Soto and his agent Scott Boras. That meeting is said to have changed the trajectory of this deal.

The Mets were dead in the water on this at about 3 p.m. today. This was going nowhere. Momentum was with the Yankees and it picked up late and it picked up quick. I think if you’d ask anybody in the know, Jim, we had a little dinner at the bar about 6 o’clock or so, something like that. About two and a half, three-hour show. When we sat down, the Yankees were winning this thing when we got up, the Mets were.

Andy Martino said on SNY

Soto now joins a long list of players who will wear the jersey of both New York teams. Judging by the reaction of the fans, the Subway Series in May 2025 could ignite some massive reaction against Soto when he takes to the field.
