The New York Yankees are currently without their captain, Aaron Judge, as he continues to recover from a rib injury. On Friday, during the Fanatics Fest, former MLB star Alex Rodriguez made a huge claim and stated that it would be a “tragedy” for the Yankees not to win a World Series with him.

In his career with the Bronx Bombers, Judge has made the trip to the Fall Classic just once. After years of heartbreak in the American League Championship Series (ALCS), the 27-time World Series winners finally won the pennant in 2024.

The 2024 World Series was their first trip to the Fall Classic since 2009, when Rodriguez and his team beat the Philadelphia Phillies. Judge, who hit a league-leading 58 home runs that season, struggled against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In Game 5, he finally broke through and had a big moment with the bat. His solo shot gave the Yanks a 1-0 lead. He went from hero to zero in the 5th inning following a catch drop. His mistake in the outfield ignited a Dodgers came back who turned things around and won 7-6 and clinched the championship 4-1.

This year is Judge’s 11th season with the Yankees and his 4th since signing a massive $360 million deal in December 2022. After leading the AL East division for a while this year, the Yanks stumbled a bit and entered the second half of the season with a 54-42 record, 3 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays.

In Judge’s absence, the team has struggled offensively. Before their 3-game series against the Dodgers on Friday, Alex Rodriguez joined the WFAN Sports Radio show. During this appearance, the 14-time All-Star urged GM Brian Cashman and the team management to make some moves to strengthen the team.

That window’s closing. And it puts tremendous pressure on Brian Cashman, the ownership, the fanbase. And what an absolute tragedy it would be to have one of the greatest players of our generation only go to one World Series and not win. … if you have an opportunity to go all-in, you gotta put all your chips in now.

Alex Rodriguez said regarding Aaron Judge

As per Jorge Castillo of ESPN, the Yankees have had talks with the Colorado Rockies over Hunter Goodman. The catcher has 27 home runs and 51 RBIs with a .251 batting average. He recently earned his 2nd All-Star nod.

One name the team will not pursue is Francisco Lindor. The New York Mets recently revealed that, apart from Juan Soto and a few other stars, they are open to trading everyone. While Lindor could be traded, the Yankees are not expected to go for the shortstop.

When will Aaron Judge return to the New York Yankees?

One big question on the minds of everyone connected with the New York Yankees is when will Aaron Judge return? On Friday, reports revealed that his re-imaging showed a little healing. However, it is still not enough to resume baseball activities.

While speaking with the reporters at Yankee Stadium on Friday, the 3-time MVP revealed that there had been a little progress in healing. The doctors will take another look in a couple of weeks and see how much further it has progressed.

There’s some progress, some healing going on, but it’s not fully healed. We’re still waiting on one more doctor to take a look at it and see how we progress forward the next couple of weeks, but it’s definitely a positive sign that we’re seeing some healing.

Aaron Judge told the reporters as per MLB.com

When asked if he was confident about returning this year, he said yes.

Yeah, definitely. I don’t see why I wouldn’t.

Aaron Judge added

So there is still no confirmed timeline regarding Judge’s return. However, the news about a little healing is a positive update for the team.

In the game on Friday, the Yankees suffered a 2-1 loss against the Dodgers. A 2-run home run from Max Muncy against Gerrit Cole saw the visitors take the series opener. With the Tampa Bay Rays losing the doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox, there is a 2.5-game gap between the two teams.
