New York Yankees outfielder Alex Verdugo has recently drawn the ire of the fans after going into a slump in the latter half of the regular season. While he had a strong start, he failed to maintain the momentum in the game.
His tenure with the Pinstripes has seen several ups and downs in his performance, followed by the recent slump. His records speak volumes considering his 1HR in over 30 games. Since the All-Star break, Verdugo batted .232/.298/.317 with 1 homerun and 10 RBIs in the last 37 games.

He’s also been a visitor to IL with injuries and sprains over the course of the regular season. Despite his struggles, Alex Verdugo has shown signs of improvement but has yet to stand by it in the long run.
Manager Aaron Boone is also optimistic to see his comeback within a few games, as he defended the 28-year-old on several occasions. He also talked about his batting gloves allergy and how his recent changes provided a positive effect in his performance.

However, in a recent Yankees game against the Texas Rangers, the outfielder showed discomfort while running to the base. Even in the dugout, he appeared to be stroking his back in pain.

The fans were already upset about the NY Yankees’ not calling Jasson Dominguez from the minors in the September move decision, and they were further irked to see Alex Verdugo and his wobbly performance. Last month there were even talks about whether Dominguez would snatch a regular spot from Verdugo, but for now, it appears not to be the case.

The Yankees’ hustle continues, as their performance fails to maintain consistency. Fans and critics are upset to see of team’s decisions in the clutch time. They may even lose their spot for the playoffs and land in the Wild Card, considering they are only half a game ahead of their divisional rival, the Baltimore Orioles.
