Alexander Bublik has been enjoying a decent form since the 2025 season and is expected to make a deep run in the clay-court events. While he is preparing to kick-start his campaign, his father, Stanislav Bublik, has made shocking revelations about their strained relationship.
During his interview with Sports.ru, Stan said that despite spending a lot on his son’s career, all he got from him was $20,000 for being his coach. Bublik started playing tennis at the age of four and was coached by his father.
Normally, the player pays the coach’s salary. But how does it work when the coach is the father? It’s a delicate issue. Sasha thinks everyone should be paid except me. To be honest, during his entire tennis career, I received $20,000 from him when we split in 2019. That’s all I earned from my son, and I’m not even mentioning how much I spent on his career.
The coaching partnership lasted for a couple of decades, and in 2023, Sasha started working with Artem Suprunov.
In fact, we had a contract from when he was about 18. According to it, he gave me 20% of his prize money. At one point, Sasha’s mother said it wasn’t right. He came to me and said, ‘Dad, let’s break it now. But I promise you, as a man, that 20% of the prize money is yours.’ So far, I’ve received $20,000.

Stanislav also revealed that although he wants to communicate with his son, Bublik doesn’t want to, but it has nothing to do with tennis. He also said Bublik wants to avoid discussion about it because it’s a family matter.
In an interview back in 2022, Bublik said the reason why he picked up a racket for his career was that his father told him to and that he “had no choice” and that the question of whether he wanted to play tennis or not “was never raised“. His mother supported his father, and Bublik at that time praised them, saying, “It’s a great attitude.”
Alexander Bublik to play Gael Monfils in the second round of the Monte-Carlo Masters
Alexander Bublik is gearing up to play the Monte-Carlo Masters. He is set to face Gael Monfils on Tuesday (April 7). Bublik has met the Frenchman thrice, losing twice. It was Monfils who clinched the win in their last meeting, in the round of 32 of the 2023 Citi Open.

Although Bublik was very vocal about his dislike for clay, it was at the French Open last year that he produced his best Grand Slam performance. The 28-year-old reached the quarterfinals and suffered a straight-set defeat at the hands of eventual runner-up Jannik Sinner.
Bublik, who is a one-time semifinalist in Masters 1000 events, has also made the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open. It’s one of the three Masters 1000 tournaments where he has reached the last eight. Bublik has yet to make a deep run in Monte Carlo and, in fact, has never played in the third round. Last year, he failed to qualify for the main draw.
Bublik was one of the few players to win titles across all surfaces last year. He lifted his career’s first trophy on clay by defeating Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the Swiss Open Gstaad. Later at the Austrian Open Kitzbuhel, Bublik went past Arthur Cazaux.
Apart from these titles, he won the Halle Open on grass against 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev, and later at the Hangzhou Open, he beat Valentin Royer to win his fifth title of the season. Bublik will be chasing his second title of the season in Monaco following his win at the Hong Kong Open over Lorenzo Musetti.
