Looks like UFC 272 will just undergo a complete renovation as the much-anticipated fight between UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski and the Chan Sung Jung aka The Korean Zombie will likely happen on some other date altogether. The fight is in the works by the UFC and was originally scheduled for UFC 272 after Volkanovski’s previously scheduled opponent for the same, Max Holloway had to pull out of the fight- that was supposed to be a trilogy- due to an injury.

Along with this, the title rematch between UFC bantamweights, the undisputed champion Aljamain Sterling going against the interim champion Petr Yan, is also been decided to be pushed under the same timeline as the Volkanovski-Korean Zombie clash. Yan and Sterling first fought back at UFC 259 in March 2021 when Yan lost his title to Sterling due to disqualification by throwing a knee strike on a grounded opponent’s face. This fight has a perfectly placed backstory to unfold more with the rematch.

The thing is that both the fights are still in the works for the UFC as per sports journalist Ariel Helwani, with the bantamweight title one being already confirmed to be happening, but will most likely be pushed to be fighting in UFC 273 now in April 2022. The reason is that UFC 273 will take plays at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Helwani came out to Twitter moments ago to tweet “Current status: Alex Volkanovski x Chan Sung Jung- Aljamain Sterling x Petr Yan … will now likely co-headline the April PPV, per sources. That’s the direction things are moving in at the moment. TBD what will headline 3/05. Could be a goodie.”

Now as the April card might get decided, it is definitely happening at the cost of UFC 272 supposed to be happening in March 2022. Which fight do you think then will sustain the card now? If one has to guess, in order to keep the stakes as high as it was previously due to both the aforementioned fights, the UFC can book another title fight.

A good idea can be to put the reigning defending UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman to another test against the rightful contender of the next title shot Leon Edwards. Usman is on a 15 fight win streak whereas Edwards is on a 9 fight win streak himself. Both have fought before with Usman having the edge the last time. Who do you think will win this rematch?
