Don't mind me because you are 12 years old, and I shouldn't tell you so many nice things. But it's a privilege to share the court with a legend of our sport. From now on, it will only grow. I had the privilege of playing doubles with Roger on several occasions here, which was very special. So, now sharing the court with Carlos is extremely special for me.
Alexander Zverev said at the press conference

Zverev and Alcaraz are representing Team Europe and are set to lock horns with Team World’s Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton on September 20, the day the Laver Cup starts. In their head-to-head encounters, Zverev and Alcaraz have both won five times each.

They met thrice in 2024, with the most recent meeting taking place at the French Open where Zverev was denied his first Grand Slam title with a five-set defeat, which made Alcaraz the Roland Garros champion for the first time.

Carlos Alcaraz was starstruck after meeting Rafael Nadal for the first time

Rafael Nadal may not be that intimidating on the court because of his constant battle against injury problems, but no tennis fan has forgotten Nadal in his prime. Nadal is Carlos Alcaraz‘s idol and the latter admitted to having nightmares while playing the King of Clay.

It was a huge thing when I played him for the first time. The other times for me were kind of a nightmare. Playing against Rafa is always tough. Every time for me, it was a privilege to share the court.
Carlos Alcaraz said at the press conference

Nadal has met Alcaraz thrice on the ATP Tour and leads 2-1 in their head-to-head meetings. The two Spaniards even joined forces at the Paris Olympics but were eliminated in the quarterfinals. The 38-year-old was set to play in the Laver Cup for Team Europe but pulled out of it just a few days before the tournament due to fitness concerns.
