Alexander Zverev, for sure, is not at all content with the way he performed this year. Even though Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz dominated the season, a player like Zverev ended the season with just one title.
That lone win came at the Munich Open against Ben Shelton. He did reach three more finals, losing the Stuttgart Open to Taylor Fritz and to Sinner at the Australian Open and the Vienna Open.
At the ATP Finals, Zverev, a two-time champion (2018 and 2021), failed to progress to the semifinals after defeats to Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassime in the round-robin stage. Tennis great Boris Becker wants to help the World No.3, but Sascha has made it clear that he doesn’t have anything to do with the six-time Grand Slam singles champion, which clearly suggests that things have turned sour between them.
We text each other every now and then. Things are a bit cooler in the relationship at the moment, but that’s okay, he should concentrate on his matches… I’m not a psychologist, I can’t see what’s going on inside him. But it had less to do with tennis… I’m not the part of the team. If he has a question, I’m always open and will answer it.
Boris Becker told Sky Deutschland
Becker and Zverev used to share a good bond, and there were also talks about the former joining the World No.3’s team as his coach. The problem was Becker’s traveling restrictions, as he was convicted of tax evasion.
If that’s his opinion. To be honest, I’m fed up with his comments.
Alexander Zverev said at the press conference when asked about Boris Becker’s latest comments
The 28-year-old is being coached by his father, Alexander Zverev Sr.. The three-time Grand Slam finalist wants to add Rafael Nadal‘s uncle and former coach Toni Nadal to his entourage. He also spent a few days at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca and worked with Toni. But reportedly, Toni turned down the offer because of his other commitments.
Tim Henman wants Alexander Zverev to take a break
Following his defeat to Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open final, Alexander Zverev played in quite a few tournaments without making deep runs. And this form continued throughout this season. Former player Tim Henman believes Zverev lacks a plan and advised him to take some time off the court.

Right now, I don’t see him having any plan when he steps onto the court. His serve is phenomenal, we already know that, and in some matches, he manages to keep it safe. The problem comes later, from the back of the court, when his forehand becomes very vulnerable, reacting almost always too late, without the ability to withstand many rallies. Right now, I feel that what he should do is take some time off from competition and reinvent himself.
The last Big Title that Zverev lifted was the 2024 Paris Masters. Although the ATP season has ended, Zverev will play one more tournament. Because of his “incredibly unsatisfying season“, Zverev has signed up for the Davis Cup Finals, which start on November 18 in Bologna.
Germany will lock horns with Argentina in the quarterfinals, and the winner will pit them against Spain or the Czech Republic. The seven-time Masters 1000 champion has yet to win the title with Germany, also a three-time winner (1988, 1989, and 1993).
Last year in the Davis Cup Finals, after defeating Canada 2-1 in the quarterfinals, Germany lost to eventual runners-up Netherlands in the semifinals 2-0. Zverev has never played the semifinals of the Davis Cup.
