Carlos Alcaraz stunned Alexander Zverev to win his first Roland Garros title. On Sunday (June 9), they played a grueling five-setter, and the crowd inside the Philippe-Chatrier was witness to the young Spaniard’s incredible comeback game to prevail over Sascha with a scoreline of 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
Both the players went for different shots, but it was Alcaraz who prevailed in clutch moments and did not fail to capitalize on his win in the fourth set. After the match, Sascha, disappointed, was all praise for the youngster. Zverev, who was searching for his first Grand Slam title, is expecting Alcaraz to lift more titles on the Roland Garros court.

Alcaraz played two finals before the Roland Garros, the 2022 US Open and the 2023 Wimbledon, winning in them by beating Casper Ruud and Novak Djokovic respectively in the final.

Carlos Alcaraz had always dreamed of winning the Roland Garros and his quest for the title started in 2020 when he joined the tournament as a qualifier and made immense progress the next year when he reached the third round.
Then, in 2022 Roland Garros, Alexander Zverev, in the quarterfinals, became the reason behind Alcaraz’s elimination, while Novak Djokovic stopped the Spaniard’s progress by beating him in the semifinals the next year. Alcaraz’s progress at Roland Garros is nothing short of impressive. After the victory, he thanked his family for their never-ending support.
For me, it’s amazing to have you here supporting me. The times you’re not here in the tournament supporting me, I know you’re supporting me from the TV at home. All the support you’ve given me since I was a little kid has been amazing. When I finished school, I put the TV on just to watch this tournament on TV. Alcaraz is now the youngest man to win Grand Slam titles on different surfaces. He is now 11-1 in five-set matches.
