German tennis ace Alexander Zverev is not thinking about the ongoing domestic violence trial in Berlin as he is focused on winning the title at the 2024 Roland Garros. As the 27-year-old reached the semifinal of the Grand Slam tournament after defeating Alex de Minaur on Wednesday, Zverev was asked if the thought of missing out on the tournament due to the trial ever crossed his mind.
The German was quick to respond negatively as Zverev said that he was informed way before that he would not be required to appear before the court physically. He then claimed that everything is going great on his part and “there is not much to say”.
No, they made it very clear to me from the beginning that I wouldn't have to be there. I think everything is going in the right direction. Everything is going great on my part, from my point of view. He was also asked if his participation should have been prevented considering his ongoing trial. Zverev gave a straightforward response saying. “No. Why? There’s no reason.”
Alexander Zverev hoping to set his best foot forward against Casper Ruud
Alexander Zverev has made it to yet another semifinal at the Roland Garros and he will be hoping to change things around this year. Last time when Zverev played in a French Open semifinal, he was ruled out of the tournament after suffering a life-threatening injury while playing against Rafael Nadal.
Nevertheless, that is a thing of the past now and Zverev has a chance to redeem himself. The 27-year-old German will be up against Casper Ruud who has a stellar record at the Grand Slam tournament. Zverev is well aware of the challenge that lies ahead of him and hence is looking to set his best foot forward.
He's a great player. Two consecutive finals here, now his third semi-final in a row, that says it all. He's one of the best tennis players on this surface. I'll need to show my best tennis to have any chance.Alexander Zverev said about facing Casper Ruud.
Notably, Zverev has himself in good form and will be hoping to capitalize on the momentum he has on his side. The German ace beat Alex de Minaur in three sets of 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Also, having lifted the title in Rome recently, Zverev is high on confidence.
