Weeks before German ace Alexander Zverev heads to court for a domestic violence public trial, he champions his foundation to help diabetic kids in an interactive session.
For context, In November last year, a German court ordered and fined Zverev $478,995 for physically abusing his ex-girlfriend, Brenda Patea. The tennis star denied the charges and objected to the order, which means he is legally innocent until a final ruling after trial.
The case for public trial is slated to begin on May 31. Then it will run through June and July, which will eventually hamper the participation of World No. 5 at the French Open and Wimbledon.
Regardless of that, the German, who was a diabetic patient at the age of three, fought hard despite the doctor’s report not deeming it possible for him to be an athlete.
Being in the Top 5 of the ATP rankings, Zverev had an interactive session with diabetic kids in Munich, as he hopes to encourage them in their ordeals. He made this known on his Instagram handle as he shared time with the kids despite his congested schedule.
Alexander Zverev answers questions from children with diabetes during the BMW Open. Not one tennis question was asked, which show how important the topic of diabetes is for everyone involved. It was a great experience for all the kids.Alexander Zverev Foundation wrote

Top Seed Alexander Zverev aiming to win the BMW Open despite challenges
Top seed Alexander Zverev begins his BMW Open campaign tomorrow against Jurij Rodionov. The two-time winner is one win away from 20 this year following an incredible start to the season.
His biggest opponent is Holger Rune, the second seed, and American Taylor Fritz in third. The 26-year-old lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the round of 16 of the Monte Carlo Masters a few days after reaching the semifinals of the Miami Open. He will be aiming for a strong start, especially in front of his home crowd.
However, that may be difficult for Zverev, as a much-improved player like Rune might hamper his hopes for the title.
Even Fritz, despite his poor run of form and in search of his first clay win, can produce a spectacular performance, as he did at the Australian Open. Zverev will likely face Fritz in the semifinals and Rune in the final.
